I'm all for laughing at the Geordies but isn't it about time this fooker was struck off as a referee? He gets every penalty decision he makes wrong. Habib Beye's tackle tonight was perfect, textbook, and brilliant. Obviously Styles gives a penalty and sends Beye off rolfl

Newcastle twinned with Tottenham.

It was an excellent tackle. Contact has been removed for the game, it's like basketball or something!!

When I saw the incident I thought penalty straight away and from his angle directly behind, that's how it will have looked to the ref. I am fookin sick to death of studio pundits and armchair tacticians harping on with the benefit of hindsight and multi angle slow motion replays about how it was wrong... ... watching and hearing the geordie fans, made me realise why it's hard to sympathise with them no matter how much shiit they're in ... a sniff of victory and they're back to their chest thumping ways of old.

apart from that he was never near enough to give any sound judgement but no chance of consulting a lino was there

It looked a penalty on first view, newcastle fans would have been screaming for it had it been at the other end.

People need to realise refs have less than a second to make a decision and from his view, it did look a penalty.

I thought it was a penalty until i seen it from the camera behind the goal.

And cos its newcastle it should always be a penalty, end of.

Much as I dislike Styles and with the benefit of action replays I think it was a good shout. Beye contacted the player first and put him off balance - whether he touched the ball or not at a later point is irrelevant. I know we are all ready to jump down the Ref's throat but I'll give him this one.

Surely the penner isnt the issue?

What pisses me off is the need for a red card as well. Thats what is reakly wrong with the game. The skunks were punished twice.

The game has gone soft.

That's were that rule is flawed, the same happened with the Gareth Bale sending off for Spurs . You get the red card for denying a goalscoring opportunity yet then the attacking team get the goalscoring opportunity again from the spot. It only should be a red card when the goalscoring opportunity is outside of the box.
