We seem to be getting quite a few recently and some are just taking the piss somewhat.

Heres the way it is from here on in....

Any regular contributor who advertises something - no problem. (Groovycrimes for example)
Anyone who only posts to advertise something (I can think of two) will have their adverts deleted.

not really, if you just wanna advertise a gig but not contribute to this board they just use haxed or a.n.other local music forum.

I put adverts on here cos sometimes people on here go to our gigs....and sometimes people are interested in hearing about em even if they choose not to go....and sometimes cos i just wanna show off!!but not very often cos we really dont have much to show off about sadx

I used to contribute here as 'palesaint' and as 'bonusgrooves' but with problems with logins and passwords, i had to create a new id and password i.e. 'mrgroovy'. There are many members i would guess that just read the messages and not contribute.

Although, I agree spamming and duplicate adverts should be a no no, on the board. But if an independent promoter is trying to put some decent nights on in the town and respects the music taste of Poolie Bunker members, and is not allowed to post one message per gig, I think it is a bit like jishtownsend says 'Nazi' like, I know at least 5 regular contributers to this board personally.

I personally find all the ads useful as I go to gigs fairly regularly. Just not keen on the 'picking sides' attitude. Seems a wee bit unfair to me!

If you contribute to the board regularly then that gives you the right to advertise what you like within reason. Some people are using the Bunker for no other reason than to tout for business as they know a lot of their potential audience read this site daily. I understand some of the people promoting their nights aren't even Pools fans and if this is true they should be told to fuck off IMO.

If we had every pub in the town using the Bunker as an advertising board then the place would be fooked.

Its got nothing to do with Nazism, stop being so stupid. If I turned up at one of the pubs being promoted, didn't buy a drink stuck posts up on all walls saying 'thebunker.co.uk', would the owner take any action? Or he is a nazi too?

Even if you weren't a regular timmy, you advertising your business doesn't make an iota of difference to the state of the Bunker. If you started regular threads promoting your business but contributed f*ck all else then it would become a problem.

Yes. But if you actually read the post, you would see that mrgroovy has been a contributor in the past under different user names, not only on here but on other Pools related websites.

I personally like knowing what is going on in this town. It's not like it's adverts for viagra or anything.

And yes it is quite childish to say "my mates can advertise what they like, but there'll be hell to pay if anyone else does so" I've seen folk slag Hartlepool off time and time again by saying that it's a shytehole and there's nothing going on here, but there are folk such here trying to make a difference. Whats wrong with a bit of promotion?

You don't have to read the posts. You can choose to ignore them. You can even choose to block the users posts if you are offended or bored by the comments.

Level playing field please!

He said he had different usernames, he never said he contributed with them. I certainly didn't recognise them and I'd be surprised if others did too.

I also like to know what is going on in the town but where is the line drawn? The other day Mr Groovy had about 3 posts in the first five on the board all promoting different nights meaning Pools related messages were pushed off the front page.

It's not a case of mates being allowed to do one thing and others don't. People like Salty and Groovy Crimes are regulars on here who contribute about all topics, they give a lot to the board therefore it's only right that they use the place for the occasional plug.

It's not my decision whether these people are allowed to carry on or not but it's just my opinion that unless they actually start contributing to the Bunker then they should find somewhere else to promote their stuff.

As for viagra adverts, don't know where I can get some do you?

If that was the case then he would only have to say so.

My main example is this oipunkste character. Every one of his posts have been an advert, on one particular occasion he was promoting a do that clashed with something Mutley/Groovycrimes was organising.

Look. I'm not trying to p1ss folk off. I happen to know that mrgroovy is a devout Pools fan for many years and he's not just trying to make money by putting these ads on here. If that was the case, why would he be plugging a John Peel night where all of the proceeds go to Shelter? (the homeless charity) He genuinely is trying to make Hartlepool a place in which you can have a good, and varied night out.

I can vouch for mrgroovy in that he follows Pools both home and away. (we're not the same person by the way, but he is a friend of mine). I can show you photos of us both at the Vic and at away grounds all over the country.

I also know that there are a few others on here who know who he is and that he is not a money grabbing leech.

I know the struggle both him and Groovycrimes have in attracting folk to these nights and can appreciate the sterling work by them both and others (such as Salty etc. Sorry if i've missed any names).

Long may it continue I say.

ps I'm not sure about obtaining Viagra but I get plenty of emails about it. I'll forward them on!c

as mentioned above, I would be happy to advertise this message board on flyers posters i.e. 'supported by http://www.pooliebunker.co.uk/newbunker' and in the clarendon, alan jackson the owner would not have a problem with that... I don't go to pools as regular as i used to, but get to games as often as I can, but have been a supporter and attending games since 1982 that's 26 years. But didn't know it was a competition like????

Oh aye, its a serious competition but only Snowy, Gremmlin or Mr Headhave a chance of winning. I can vouch for my first game being Pools / Scunthorpe in 1972. I think Ron Young scored the goal but not 100% on that.

I scrambled in under the fence behind the Rink End, was promptly chased by several coppers then got lost in the Rink End crowd.

fair do's on the posts but pooliebunker.co.uk will do. People will figure the rest out.

Perhaps the issue here is the way The Bunker is being used.
This is by no means a dig at Either Oipunkste or Mrgroovy as both are friends of mine, its simply pointing out that people are treating the board differently.
The prime example was pointed out by Mr Tax,when three of the first 5 threads were gig ads none of which were happening within the next few days.
Mutley,Salty & Myself have regularly plugged gigs that we are involved in during the week running up to the gigs & tried to encourage other bunker users to join us.
These threads turn into conversations as people know us & either show an interest in the gig or take the piss out of us,but it still is an interactive thing & part of the bunker craic.

Currently we have the following nights being advertised.

8th November - (posted on 7th October)
20th December - (posted on 4th October)
18th October - (posted on 9th October)
7th November - (posted on 8th October)
1st November - (posted 3rd October)
16th October - (posted 3rd October)
17th October - (posted 3rd October)
12th October - (posted 29th September)

None of those threads were started by either Salty,Mutley or myself.

Last but not least, just to clear up any confusion,GroovyCrimes & Mrgroovy are not the same person,we are 2 completely different users.
:coool: <--- that ones me

We already have Bunker 'business cards' on the bar (wont mention the pubs name), we would also gladly display posters for the Bunker or any other messageboards for that matter, if anyone wanted to knock some up, and thats whether we are allowed to put the odd plug on here or not, you see we are just trying to make something fans of Pools can relate to and enjoy, whilst also trying to earn a living. I think a messageboard used by those fans and by many of our 'football' friends would normally be a sensible place to use.
However, we will not mention the pub again, message received loud and clear.

My comments were most definitely not aimed at the MH pub. It was at people using the place for nothing other than a advertising forum which is something you clearly don't do given that you have been a regular on here for donkeys.

I understand that Mr Tax and thank you, however to be fair, I don't often post that often of late other than mentioning the pub and it seems that sort of thing isn't going down too well, so unless we are given specific permission maybe it would be better for us not to use this forum to pass on information and just hope that we continue getting the TREMENDOUS SUPPORT we have had so far, by word of mouth and other means. I mentioned before that we would be happy to contribute to a charity/good cause or raise funds in the pub as a means of using the forum. The last thing we want is for anyone to think we are abusing this messageboard, like.

By the way, I personally think some of the other 'advertisers' are simply just using their noggins and realising that there is quite a healthy 'music' culture on this board, (despite it being primarily a footie forum), they see that there is probably an audience here for their gigs and promotions, I can't blame them.
I don't see it as any different to someone coming on and saying they have a spare match ticket or a bike for sale, the same as you might on a works notice board for example, somewhere you know a lot of people look on a regular basis. confised

Just for clarification, I was not referring to Mr Codyakker and the Mill House either. Coddy and I disagree on certain things but he has been around on this and every other Pools message boards for longer than I care to remember. His plugs are the sort I meant that were perfectly ok and acceptable.

talking of plugs and ads, 31 bunkerites are among the 110 subscribers to the delayed A Century of Poolies. Although all of em aint settled up yet (its not an issue I can wait until it comes out) but when the book is delivered (- more likely to be somewhere between 2-3 weeks - print run starts tomorrow morning at last clappp ) I'll hand over £31 to the bunker funds as promised as the levy I agreed for advertising either to Mr I, or as the club is more likely than not local, then to their representative on the bunker.

Thanks to all for their patience with the delay - which in the end has been to the better for the book as i had more money to afford better paper and a better cover.

Thanks for that Mr I, it means a lot to us, we will however stand by our offer of contributions to the next fundraising activity carried out by the Bunker and off course offer free use of our facilities if anyone requires a function room etc.

I can vouch for mrgroovy in that he follows Pools both home and away. (we're not the same person by the way, but he is a friend of mine). I can show you photos of us both at the Vic and at away grounds all over the country.
