Cheers mate, theres not much to choose between them i terms of tax so its down to personal choice again. Definitely down to the Audi or BMW though.

I'd opt for the Passat, I don't like the Hondas. Just my opinion, mind.

I have a Passat at the moment, had loads of problems. One of which, the Fuel pump had the car in the garage for 2 months with another 16 off with the same condition. Poor show by VW should have had a recall. My choice for the next one is an A4 had a few before, different quality.

I thought VW were reliable, it's got to be the BMW then, as Audi are VW owned.

The A4 kicks lumps out of the BMW.

The others aren't even in the same stratosphere.

I called into the BMW dealers yesterday and took a test drive. I was mightily impressed and I'm not leaning towards it rather than the A4. Its a huge improvement over the old model.

An A4 is just so much classier than a 3 series though.

I had the same choice when I bought my last car (although I bought second hand a couple of years old) and the A4 won hands down.

The 3 series is just too common and in many instances is the choice of the chav.

I've got an A4 (2002) and keep having probs with it. One thing that does piss me off is that there is no back windscreen wiper. rage

Which garage do you take it to?

I go to a specialist Audi place in Diddlesbrough and they're excellent and relatively cheap.

Can't do owt about the back windscreen wiper like, but no saloons have them anyways.

I don't think theres anything chavvy about a brand new BMW. 15 years old then yes, they're all driven by chavs or black drug pushers in the case of Nottingham.

Honestly, I've had several A4's and I thought this BMW was at least as good.

John, Beemers are fookin' UGLY. The Japanese have no class. Volkswagen fund the Nazi party. So what does that leave?

the audi is a tarted up passatt - or the passatt is a dressed down audi one of the two

Beamer for a change -

if after 3 a4s you cant make your mind up then you already know the answer

now an s5 would be no option

Oh I'm not disputing the A4 is a good car, I'd recommend it to any one. My problem is that having had three, I am tempted by something different. Calm down Atweasle!!

Besides as I said before, I was very impressed by the BMW test drive, it was ultra responsive and great in the bendy bits.

Doesn't matter, you're still going to be parked up on the motorway for hours anyway.

How can you get excited about something that will be stacked up on the top of a scrap heap prior to being exported to China to be melted down in a blast furnace in fifteen years time.

Petrol heads.

When the day arrives when we have a decent public transport system I'll use it - but I'll still have a car.

I live in Nottingham and I do use public transport occasionally. It's difficult to get into the city and difficult to park. The tram system, whilst it has limited destinations, is superb. The trouble is that its not an option for most.

Other than a few other cities theres nothing in the UK, and certainly not in Hartlepool.

Besides, I like cars, particularly one that is a good car. And while someone else is paying for the car, fuel, maintenance, road tax etc I'll like it even more.

Mr I - I recently bought a BMW 320SE without considering other options because my two previous BMW's had been superb. While the car has been a dream to drive it developed a number of faults.

Firstly the condenser went in the climate control and started blowing dust everywhere. Secondly I was on my way to York recently and it decided to take a rest, thankfully I was stationary at a roundabout and not overtaking as I would have been in trouble.

A new condenser and a memory chip for the EMS would have cost me £960 had the car not been under warranty. BMW have been told in writing that any further serious problems and I want my money back.

In future I will consider other makes before buying a new car.

Awaiting a response from No6 Bus - if he's abusing me he can't abuse anyone else bbolt

I'm with the coffin dodger lover on this

I couldn't do my job if I had to depend on public transport, its shite and overpriced and unreliable

Infact if I had my way I would build bigger, wider roads and increase the national speed limit to 100mph

I think the Krauts have the best ideas on speeding.

Feel free to go as fast as your car will allow on most motorways but speed in restricted houses and we'll take you house off you. Check the massive speeding fines in Germany for speeding near schools for example.

My Fiesta has a back windscreen wiper, I'd be more than happy to swap.

You scratch your head but as things go for me right now driving is a trial to be avoided at all costs i.e. five hours to do a 180 mile journey on the M5 and M6 last week. Sorting out the bit of business I get involved with is done on weekdays on quietish roads without some nutter trying to get in the boot of the car with me. Come the weekend when all those anxious employed people come out in their german cars i.e. VW, Audie, BMW (not so much Mercs) and start driving about like the boss is chasing them........well it just spoils it for those of us who've got options other than working for some rat bag.

So I'm not impressed that someone buys some lump of tin for you to drive 80,000 miles a year in, it must be hell.

In my humble opinion

Do I remember rightly that you're PK's younger brother or is my memory playing tricks on me?

If you are it would stack up that you're long retired.

Liverpool City Council left me some time ago and I'm pursuing a lucrative freelance career in property development free from the constraints of aforesaid ratbags. How you poor buggers that get company cars to drive round the country to make money for other people put up with it I don't know, maybe you deserve it.
