I'm learning to fly!

After 20 odd hours flying and a few exams I will be trusting my life to a few aluminum tubes with a kagool wrapped round them!

In all seriousness the typical Microlight does around 70 - 90 mph so I could get up to Hartlepool for the match in just over an hour (bear in mind its a straight line) with no chance of traffic problems.

So then Mr poolieinnottingham - want a lift ?

Not sure about microlights but when I did my PPL I was told that I did not need a license ro fly single engined light aircrafts unless you carry passengers,

If you need any help with theory of flight etc give me a shout....

Same licence I believe Mr Blue, you now need a PPL for a microlight.

In a word YES. You need a Private Pilots Licence (PPL) to be able to legally fly a microlight in the UK.
This involves at least 25 hours of flight training - which normally breaks down to about 12 duel and the remainder solo.
You will need to pass 4 multiple choice exams, an oral exam, a flight test and you will need to complete 2 cross country flights of around 50 miles each.
You will also need a declaration of fitness from your local GP (Basically a card that says that you aren't prone to sudden black-outs etc).

It;s all changed since I done mine at Biggin Hill, straight after the fireman's strike whatever year that was.

I needed 40 hrs but 15 of them hours could be done in the simulator and it was 35 quid an hour bet it's a few more pounds now. The cross country flights are the same, 12 hours solo and a instrument only flight. Only 2 exams and they didn't cause any problems.

I was thinking that myself. Mind you, you can land these things on a sixpence. Not literally but certainly on a football pitch

He's a former bootneck so he will just crash it into a floodlight.

Have a word with your mate Ritchie, he'll be able to arrange for you to land on the pitch.

You could land at Jacksons Landings (maybe thats why they named it thus) but I wouldn't fancy leaving it there for the duration of the match.
