Seen as though there's a few music people on here i'm after a bit of advice.

I'm just learning how to play and know very little i wondered if anyone could tell me of any websites that are any good when learning to play. At the moment ive only learnt/practised 6 of the basic chords and am now trying to change between these chords so any advice would be great.

ultimate-guitar.com has got a massive database of chords for different songs, including different versions depending on ability....this is worth printing out if you can as its got loads of different chord diagrams..http://www.learnguitarmusic.com/images/ ... iagram.gif hope thats helpful!

And if you put Chordie into your search whatsit you'll get a vast library of artist's songs and songs by artists in lyric, chord and tab form.

I agree, there's some great guitar lessons on Youtube which you would pay £15+ for on CD.

www.worldguitar.com/tuner.html useful to get you in tune, also a metronome on their to get you in time
www.chordfind.com/ pretty definitive list of chords
www.iol.ie/~murphypj/ half decent list of easy tracks but don't use any of the guitar tips links on there, they're trying to flog you stuff
www.ultimate-guitar.com/ as already posted by yossarian excellent for chord arrangements for specific bands but beware there are serious amounts of pop ups and trackers on these sites especially ultimate.

The best way is to pick songs you like and get the tablature for them. Then you'll know more easily when the changes are and how they should sound. Practise makes perfect!

Before you do anything, learn the circle of fifths.
Then you'll know WHY you're changing chords and probably won't even need to look at the tabs.

I taught myself at 17 by getting the chordbook for Definitely Maybe off one of my mates and playing along to it. Oasis are by no means one of my favourites but their songs are a piece opiss to learn and play along to. This was pre-internet so I had no online resources

I imagine it's a great deal easier now.

I would also echo Elvis' statement of learning barre chords. I have friends who have got up and sang their own songs in front of large crowds who can't play a single barre chord and they would be so much better if they learnt. ONce you've mastered the barre chord, you're sorted!

Isn't it better to take lessons fromn someone good?
Learning music from a book or a computer screen sounds a bit weird to me. Suppose it depends on how good you want to be?
