Aint we scored 2 or 3 from quickly taken free kicks this season?

Quickly taken free kicks have resulted in Browny scoring from that Jones free kick in the opening game and Liddle took one Quick in the West Brom game and Foley scored shortly after it.

There seems to be many more being questioned that have not gone right, yes I know that's football but come on. The Foley one was a bloody embarrassment. sadx

True but not as important as having a capable manager in charge though.

Why do we need to lay off the ball at a goal scoring free kick

As soon as we touch the ball, the wall charges it down and gets it blocked

So frustrating to waste a chance when we have people like humps, mccunnie, liddle who have all scored free kicks from a dead ball situation without getting 'layed off' banghead

Maybe someone who's played at a reasonable level will put me right but I suspect they get a better strike on a live ball.

I don't think I've ever seen it work

What proportion have you seen a dead ball strike result in a goal compared to where the ball has been laid off. You've said probably never as far as the laid off ball is concerned how about the dead ball sitiation (commentator speak).

Maybe Chip could illuminate on the choice between the options.

I've no idea what the answer to that is, Frodraff, but my impression is the same as Scotty's. Sometimes they spend ages plotting who's going to do what/setting things up for a lay-off and then nothing materialises. Same as short corners.....they never work either and are just as frustrating to watch.

Interestingly (only my impression), Liddle seemed to lose his free kick prowess at the same time as all this elaborate stuff started

Is it not so they can shift it aside of the wall for a clear strike at the unprotected side of the goal?

It only seems to get moved a couple of but if you're telling me thats the case, can you tell them it doesn't work.

It only seems to get moved a couple of feet (600mm for PoK and Tom Pie) but if you're telling me thats the case, can you write in and tell them it doesn't work.
