I am sure this thread will attract the attentions of club officials, is there any reason why we can't have Mark Simpson answering questions on here like Paul Mullen used to on rivals. Surely it can't do any harm....Mark?

By the way, the latest published accounts for 2005 show that IOR covered a loss of around £500,000 and that the debt is now nearly £5m. Without the sale of Boyd, make that £1m loss on the year, so I'm hardly surprised they didn't immediately spend that income. The punter who is most disappointed must be a Mr K Hodcroft of IOR Towers. Let's hope the prospect of seeing any of that £5m again keeps him interested because we are a basket case if he gets fed up at some of the abuse which is dished out on this thread and walks away. But I agree that administration and communication could be a lot better. Not to mention the results on the park.

Where have I been in the last 10 years? I have been standing in the Mill House, watching the best football I have ever seen in 40 years.

The original post on this thread said it was the chairman who was running the club. Is it Hodcroft's money or is IOR's involvement? No doubt you are an expert on the structure of IOR and can name the several other directors of IOR who are regularly involved in the running of Pools . No doubt, you can explain the corporate strategy of IOR and why it invests in Pools. Lacking your expertise, I am doubtful as to how the investment makes a lot of corporate sense for IOR. So I suppose that the attachment to Pools is more personal - a fancy for being a football chairman. Given that IOR is not a publicly listed company, the personal and corporate agendas may not be so distinct. IOR is not M&S where chief executives are answerable to institutional shareholders.

Right back where they started? In terms of stadium and the all round development of the club, things are a whole lot better, and if you take the ten year span, we have never had it so good on the pitch. We are certainly not back to where IOR started.

We agree that the investment has resulted in underachievement in the past year or so and that customer service should improve. I am arguing that because Chairman Ken is so heavily and personally involved, I doubt that he is content with that position and his track record shows that he has some ability to improve the situation. Let's hope so, because I don't know where the next £5m donor is coming from. I'm happy to keep paying my money for what is generally a much better product and hope he is happy to keep paying his money too.

Now run along Chip and don't get into mischief. Leave the corporate world to the big girls.

Did you not tell everyone what absolutely fantastic odds Pools were for promotion.

Chip, I agree with a lot of your later posts save for the point that 'too many people are drawing wages from ior and are getting an easy ride. hodcroft included.'

I don't know if you are being ironic but exactly how Hodcroft in reality 'draws wages' when he pays them all and exactly how in reality he has 'an easy rise' when he stands to lose £5m is not immediately apparent to me. It can hardly be said that he is laughing all the way to the bank. And he obviously finds it easier going to make a success of IOR than he does of HUFC.

if we had a regular goalscorer would we be in the bottom half of the table

Of course we wouldn't.
But that inevitably brings me back to the recurring difference I seem to have with you (which in no way should be taken as a criticism).
We should be able to find a half decent regular goalscorer among the existing ranks. Maybe not a 29 a season man like Boydy but at least someone who'll get into double figures without wasting a season's worth of goals in a three match spell.
I mean FFS if we can score 12 goals in 3 games like we did then the potential must be there somewhere.

NOBODY in the team is scoring goals, at least none to speak of. Yet other teams manage to score against us through players who are grade 1 goalscoring nonentities.

Can somebody please explain why?

Aye that'll do the job - the opinions of lad who didn't quite make it as a footballer and who hangs round the players in a somewhat unusual manner (reminds you of some of the players at times..... sadx )

doh. do you really really think that its hodcrofts money ? where have you been the last 10 years?

ior are the best thing that EVER happened to this club. THEY have invested millions not hodcroft. he is just the one who has spent it. and what we are saying, is that he has pished the money up the wall and we are right back where we started from.

he is currently employing nearly 30 footballers most of whom are grossly underachieving. on top of that some very unhelpul and not particularly customer friendly staff, and his good mate chris turner for doing diddley squat. and he is using my money, your money and iors money.

in any other line of work where the company is failing and failing badly despite 5 million bar being thrown at it the top man would be sacked and someone who can do a better job brought in.

now read the thread again girls and it might make sense.

You are full of it chip, full to the very brim

is there any chance of the hartlepool mail or the northern echo finding out for me where andy monkhouse is at present ?

ALLEGEDLY...

Monkhouse is signing for Leeds on 1st January for £100k.

Pools won't let him go on loan now cos of the way he and his agent have behaved.

But they don't want him in the team either cos of it.

Which, if true, is fair enough, isnt it?

Fair enough not to play him if the info is correct, but bang out of order by the player and his agent.

this is the problem with having a club like Leeds in our division. Players who wouldn't normally be considered at all by a club like that when they are in the Prem/Championship are transfer targets in League One. Monkhouse played well against them, he is a Leeds lad (although he says he is also a Man Utd fan - which they will be reminded of if he does sign for them) so we can expect bids from teams like them for our better players.
If we are now preparing to lose him, well then Wilson is correct and we need to stop playing him now and get the team rebuilt.

So how exactly have he and his agent allegedly behaved then?

What I heard, which is not proven, is that his agent has contacted and arranged a transfer with Leeds without Pools permission.

It has been said elsewhere that he is injured, and I hope that is the case and that what I have been told is untrue, but the people (note plural) who told me are usually quite accurate.
