I thought Matty was in with a shout for MoM, best I've seen him play in a long time.
Oh sorry, he was on the bench......

Hmm, Think I stand by my original statement!

I thought James Brown was our best player by a country mile!

They had at least 2 marking him all game, sometimes 3, and he still stood out

Brown should of scored in the 1st half as he seamed to take to long like his chance at Tranmere, He was lively but only for spells

I thought man of the match was either Collins or Nelson as they were the only ones who were solid for the entire 90 minutes

Well - nearly solid (we did get beat 1-0)

They were still solid and put in better performances than Brown.

They did play well - I just happen to think Brown played better

Browny was well marshalled by their defence - they knew he was the danger man and paid him a lot of attention. It was no surprise then that he found it difficult but he had the best chance of the game and he should have scored. He is a great prospect but if there is one area where he needs to improve on it is that he needs to be a more clinical finisher.

Great to see him pledge his future to the club though. clappp

Yesterdays MOTM should have been Collins. Him and Humphreys were outstanding. Sweeney had a good first half, and Alan Power was very good, and will get even better.

Infact Powers performance put Liddle, and Jones to shame.

Oh I should have added, ALB also had his best game, and it was great to see him collect crosses.

There was no way Humphreys was outstanding yesterday. In the first half especially he was poor and gave the ball away regularly. Probably an 'average' performance by his standards

Frankly, I though Richie Humphreys looked a class above IMHO

James Brown is vastly over-rated as well I feel

And the two a couple of seasons ago (1-1, 3-3). believe me, from an outside viewpoint, James Brown is not the player you guys think he is.

takle off your rose-tinted specs and you will see an good-ish player in an average team

He wasn't even in the 16 when we drew 1-1. I doubt you remember him from the 3-3. So you think he is vastly over rated and arguing with people who watch him every week based on 90 minutes when he still did some very good things.

Stop talking shite. If we are average based on yesterday so are Stockport, we didn't play at our best but your goalkeeper isn't going to play like that every week.

look mate you have come on here to promote your website. fair enough, i have no issues with that. but to start writing a bloke off on the basis of 90 minutes to a bunch of folk what have been watching brown for 3 years is both patronising and stupid.

stockport put 11 men behind the ball almost the whole second half and had either 2 or 3 men on brown. do you honestly think every team we play will be that negative ?

we KNOW how good brown is, you are simply making a tit of yrself.

When have i Written a bloke off after 90 minutes?

I just stated the JB isn't the player everyone on here creams their pants about.

And about promoting a site, that's true, but Im more than just a site, I have an opinion, and my opinion has been stated.

And we stated that we've seen him a lot more than you and are able to make our own judgements.

When you "saw" James Brown in the 1-1 match, he did not play nor was he on the bench.

When you saw James Brown in the 3-3 match, it was just his 20th start for the club and he was a raw 18 year old playing on the right wing.

Since then...Brown has a started 45 times.

He didn't have his best day but he still managed to be one of the best players on the pitch.

I could say your keepers kicking is appalling based on yesterday even though you've raved about him and suggested he might get an international call up. I won't though as it would be based on one game and he may have had an off day.

Yeah, Ok, I might have been a little harsh about Mr Brown.

Owain fon Williams is a superb young keeper and has been in sparkling form since he signed from Crewe.

Do me a favour mr Chip Fireball and rate yesterdays perfomances 1 to 12, 1 being best 12 being worst (let's include Mr ADG's player of the year Power,) just so I can see how differently you see the perfomances of our players to me, cos I know it's a game of opinions, but sometimes I agree with what you are saying only for you then to become so blinkered in your views of your favourites.

I realise the middle ground is difficult to rate but you should know who you think performed best and worst.

Power did well indeed. Put plenty of good passes in that set up attacks. Could be the creativity we lack.

I thought Barker looked our only threat when he came on, he battered them for the few minutes he was on and maybe should have been brought in 10 minutes earlier to try to break the resolve.

I thought Power did ok and thought monkhouse was useless 2nd half.

Strange things opinions, like

Oh yloop, when will you ever learn.

Just because when Barker came on he instantly troubled the centre-back, just because he won flick-ons against their defenders 3 times in the brief stint he was on,what on earth makes you think that you can come on here saying positive things about last seasons top scorer

I have been pleasantly surprised by how effective the Porter/Brown combo has been (despite having absolutely no physical presence) in the two home games before Saturday. However on SAturday they had proved not to be able to break the resolute Stockport defence down. With 30 minutes to go we got a string of corners and I thought it was vital to get our only aerial forward on. But Danny left him kicking his heels and then didn't introduce him until the period of dominance was over.

Having seen what we've seen in the first two home games I think Brown and Porter have earned the chance to start - but if that's not working we must not be frightened to give Barker 30 minutes to rough up the centre backs. And hey, if we can get one of Brown or Porter to gamble on Barker winning flick-ons (ie 90% of the time) then we have a plan B.

as for rating our players from best to worst, it would probably look something like this :

collins collins
brown nelson
monkhouse humps
nelson boland
porter brown
sweeney porter
boland alb
humps monkhouse
alb liddle
liddle sweeney
power power
jones. jones.

Well there you go Mr Chip Fireball, not too dis-similar to mine, I realise when you get to the middle ground it's a bit of guesswork, but at least we're watching the same game when it comes to the under performers.
That only leaves me to educate you regarding Danny Boy.

Jon Daly has got to be one of one of the worst players we have even had at Edgeley Park. Cannot understand why I see him in the SPL.

That copyright notice needs a little work. Something like this maybe...

Yes, that'll work

Daly was hit and miss for us. Not prolific, and you wished he would use his size more and ruffle the defenders a bit. But we've had a lot worse.....

...like Adie Mike, on who we can all agree

I like the sign, very subtle
