2 up MacKay again, reportedly great finish, with an assist from Budtz, sounds like route 1

4 up Rowell and Power And according to Tax Paying Poolie Rowell has hit the post after great work by Foley and it should have reached double figures. So if this upto date information wrong , you know who to blame

Final score 4-0. Only got there for the second half, could have had another 4 or 5 in the time I was there. Barnsley fans next to me seemed to think McKay's second was offside from Budtz punt upfield. The same fans were heard to say 'You can tell it's a Danny Wilson team, they play the ball on the floor'. Which to a great extent we did. Both Alan Power and Johnny Rowell played well, and looked a class above Reserve level. The defence weren't really tested, even when the Ref tried to help Barnsley out with free kicks around the edge of the area.

Great performance, and one in which the scoreline could easily have reached double figures against a young Barnsley side. Outstanding performers for me were Joe Tait, who was an absolute rock in the defence and won everything in the air, and Alan Power, who was just sheer class. His touch, vision, passing skills and work rate were unequalled on that pitch. I actually thought Jonny Rowell had a very quiet game, but he was stuck out on the left for his sins. I think all of the team played well and looked sharp with the possible exception of Matty Robson who, barring one excellent mazy dribble, never looked as if he was going to get into the game and seemed to give the ball away every time he got it.

I thought it was a bit of a fluke but my old man thought he meant it. Who knows? Fluke or not, it was a beauty.

Best player on the pitch for me was Marc Ellison who was playing alongside Power. Power's performance certainly helped him and gave him the confidence to go forward but I largley thought Power was quiet for the first half.

Rowell's goal was definitely a cross IMO, I personally think he is wasted on the wing and think you need a player like that in the middle.

Mackay's goal looked offside to me. I don't think Mackay will ever make it at our level but he got himself into loads of great positions time after time, as he does for the first team when he comes on as sub.

Overall a very good performance and some encouraging signs

Yeah, Marc Ellison had a hell of a game. The centre pairing totally dominated that midfield from start to finish, great to watch.

Ellison is a good player. I saw him a couple of times last season for the ressies and was impressed. Like most of them he needs to progress......looks like he is doing just that.

Agree, Ellison had a good game, did you see that crunching tackle ? Impressed with the two central defenders Tait and Sharples as well.
