I think its boydy coming back. like i said before it wouldnt be the first time the mail get mixed up with the dates

but boyd was never involved in either of our recent promotions so it cant be him. it makes sense for it to be dimi. coventry have pretty much stated that they will trim their squad. we need a keeper too. typical mail plucking a 'story' out of thin air

He says that two championship clubs and Hartlepool are interested. He also says that he thinks he is good enough to play at least at championship level. He still has two years left on his contract at Coventry. Will Coventry want a fee?
It depends on how much desire he has to return to Pools. If he agreed a mutual cancellation of his contract, making him a free agent, that would increase our chances. Otherwise.............
He has already gone for more money and a higher league. Considering two championship clubs are allegedly after him, will he opt for the same result?

Yes great goalkeeper for us and league one, but lets face it he went to coventry and didnt exactly set the world alight did he? You could understand if he had went to West Brom Ipswich Palace etc or other clubs at the top end of the league and couldnt get in or was fringe player but 4th choice at coventry

No player will ever do that.

Dimi is 29. I know he has other talents besides footy but his days as a keeper are growing shorter. If he gets an offer from a Championship club with twice the salary he gets at Pools, he'd be criminally insane to refuse it.
As for Coventry wanting a fee or not, they deserve the same fee they paid us!

If he keepts himself fit and right he could have another 8 years as a keeper, i'd say at least 6 maximum at the top.

If he feels he is good enough for the championship then i can see him accepting them championship offers, he may feel he wasn't given a fair crack of the whhhip at coventry and has a point to prove.

The signing of a keeper this season was a litmus test for me of the clubs intentions this season...sorry to burst anyones bubble, but wishful talk of the present incumbent coming good is just whistling in the dark to me.... like Chip says, we need a keeper.

Lets look at the facts, in a who's house is this kind of way

Dimi at Coventry signed a contract with a wage of £xxx,xxx a year

Spot the different, Dimi would have to take a pay cut to come back to Hartlepool and play first team football. He may be offered a similar or better wage at a large Championship club.

Sometimes there are more important things in life than money, he might just love the area, his bird might wanna move back, he knows round these parts he is guaranteed to play week in week out.

and he would still pick up a good wage, it's not like we pay him in buttons or silver milk tops.

I agree, but the the career of a professional football is a relatively short one, got to build up a retirement fund.

Whoever's right, Dimi seems an intelligent enough bloke to weigh his options: biggish money right now with possible lost opportunity of starting a Greek shipping line, or less money right now with ... er ... lost opportunity of starting a Greek shipping line?

Which unless he's been studying in his spare time or has another very good skill, will no doubt pay a lot less than he can earn at a Championship football club.

Well if none of them want him he won't go to them will he. Remember though it was Dimi himself who said there were two Championship clubs on his trail.

As for wages, I think the two poor clubs both got dumped last season. All the rest look big enough to me to pay decent wages, except Blackpool mebbe.

Blackpool will have a season like Colchester did last time I think. At least they have all had a go, like.

That they gained promotion the very next season after dodging relegation by three points ought to be a source of inspiration for Pools.
They won only one of their first twelve games in their promotion season!
