It will have been the easiest headed goal that Joel will ever have scored.

I wouldn't say i hated foley, far from it, but as a footballer he is very poor, his goal tonight was made by porter and brown and a blind man on crutches would have scored.

I can't actually believe too that some complete bell end tried to pick a fight with me for having an opinion on foley's ability.

He said he wanted me to meet me round the back of the stand???

Does this mean if he knacked me then foley is a good player and i knacked him that foley is a poor player???????????????????????

Have to agree with most replies, HATE is a strong word , and I dont know Foley personally, so wouldn't say I hate him. I just believe he's not good enough for this league. Having said that his confidence rose after he scored tonight, and with luck, he may just notch again soon , and he may prove me and numerous others wrong. I hope so.

Basically he wasn't good enough and should have been released at the end of last season. Purely based on what I had see him do in games he had played in. Whoops question wasn't for me.

Erm... he can only score against Scunny.

Let's flog him to them while he's still worth a bit

Top lad I'm sure, to mimic yloop's comments - just don't rate him. I'm not going to turn on a sixpence just cos he scored in the Carling Cup, I'll wait until he does a Boyd and becomes a League One contender.

As a footballer he IS good enough, the thing that will always hold him back, and probably ensure he ultimately doesn't achieve his potential, is his size. A bit more protection from referees would help. He is very much a confidence player, which grew tonight after his goal, unfortunately his height will almost certainly remain the same.

What exactly were your comments on Foley?

I basically said that he was not good enough, cant remember exact comments but only spoke the truth (although i dont really know if there is any jobs stacking shelves in aldi).

In my opinion foley is not good enough for this side and i dont think he should have been given another contract, there are better players on a sunday morning paying to play.

If my opinion offends anyone then i dont care, i pay my money and i'm entitled to my opinion whether i keep it to myself or shout it from the terraces.

As has been said a few times before, to be a successful small player you have to be build like a tank and hard to push off the ball...having such a low centre of gravity should be a huge strength. The issue with that is when he puts weight on he will lose his speed and will have to rely on his ball control and finishing ability.

Behave yourself, his size has nothing to do with it. He simply isn't good enough, for a player of his supposed ability he should be willing to run at every defender as soon as the ball is at his feet, from tonights (and past) evidence all he wanted to do was stop and pass the ball to another player behind him, 75% of his passes resulted in us losing the ball.

Got to love these pratts.

Not one person said they hate him. They said they dotn think he is good enough. How one goal which is laid on a plate for you proves otherwise is beyond me.

Same as the pratts who came out with "who still thinks wilson is a 'lovely lovely person'" after we win one game?

I guess they are children so we can let them off.

I think you will find the point people are making is you don't HATE people for their perceived lack of ability. You can HATE Gordon Brown for running the country into the ground. You can HATE Margaret Thatcher for her destruction of anything that got in her way. You can HATE Scousers for their f*cking annoying accent. But you don't hate a player just because he isn't good enough for your team. If that was the case I would hate hundreds of players over the last 45 years for failing to do an adequate job of being a footballer for MY team.

No.

Too much bolox on this thread.

Foley was woeful but to say people hate him is bolox.

To think that cos he scores against Scunny in the League Cup from two yards that he is suddenly a good player is bolox.

To say that he got better or that his confidence grew after the goal is bolox.

As has been mentioned he didn't look to take his man on all night, preferring to stop and pass backwards instead cos he is bolox. On top of that did youse not notice that he was running away from the ball all night cos he didn't want it?

At least Robson attacked his full back and he put some cracking crosses in during the course of the evening. True, he lost the ball a few times trying to take his man on but I'd rather that than what Foley was doing pissing about on the other side of the pitch.

The rest of the team carried Foley last night, fortunately they played well enough to do that, especially in the second half.

To describe Foley's performance as woeful last night is absolutely unbelievable.

Everytime he did the smallest thing wrong last night people were on his back. Even when he wasn't in the wrong, he was still getting the blame. . Why do people do it? He's a young lad from our youth setup who gives nothing but 100%. I don't think he is good enough but while he has a Pools shirt on and is trying his best then surely the best thing to do is support him?

Then he scores (and yes I know it was a 2 yard tap in) and all I could hear was the praise for the two players who set the goal up. People just can't praise the lad! I am sure there were people who couldn't find it in themselves to celebrate when he scored.

If Jones hadn't been injured and put in that performance, the comments would have been far far different and he certainly wouldn't have been getting 6's.

I thought Foley put in a very good 2nd half shift yesterday, he caused them problems, scored, had one shot that the keeper made a good save from, put a lovely ball out to Robson who then had his shot saved and did some fine bits of skill to beat his man in the Town End/Millhouse corner. He's have also had a 2nd if Brownie had squared the ball to him when he had an open goal instead of selfishly shooting.

It's got too the point now where i'm starting to ignore what ADG writes, if i want to read a fair unbiased match report I'll read someone elses, in his world Foley n Robson can do no right, Power and Monkhouse can do no wrong.

I'm surprised he didn't give monkhouse a 8 last night, he didn't play, but he sat at home n chilled out very impressivly, lovely use of bubblebath, made a lovely tomato basil soup for tea, got into bed at midnight after some beautiful touches of the remote to watch tv.

The best was Robson and Foley being at fault for the goals on Saturday. Nothing to do with a referee giving a stupid penalty or a defence that went to sleep and a keeper that didn't command his 6 yard box properly.

Noooooooooooo, it was Foley and Robson coming on 10 minutes earlier.

Well, seeing as though I've told you why I think he was woeful why not tell me why you think that he wasn't rather than just saying "ridiculous"?

Anybody can be contrary but it helps to explain why.

He caused them problems? No he didn't, he didn't wanna take his man on and generally tried to avoid getting caught up in the action.

Scored? Yep, I'll give you that. Regardless of how easy it was I've seen them missed plenty enough.

Had one shot that the keeper made a save from? Big wow. One shot. And the keeper saved it.

Some fine bits of skill? Nope, not getting with that. Pushed off the ball and ran it out of play plenty of times in the Town End / Millhouse corner.

Could have had a second if Brownie had squared to him? If you were Brownie would you pass to Baby David, especially from that position? You wouldn't do that on a Wednesday night.

I am sure but you have done nothing but concentrate on the negative parts of Foleys performance instead of a balanced view. Foley DID some great bits of skill and beat his defender on occasions. Admittedly he did get pushed off the ball at times but so would you if you were 4 foot 6 and 8 stone wet. If that equates to a woeful performance then you are very hard to please.

Regardless what I'd do in a friendly 5 aside game, Brownie should have squared it to Foley who did well to get into the position which would have finished the game off.

I agree Mr Ripper, maybe giving the ball away all the time is what makes some fans happy?

Ripper, did you leave 25 minutes before the end to attend the "Birdman Of Crimdon Dene Miners Gala Town Show" or something?

Foley and Robson basically ran Scunthorpe ragged for the last quarter of the game last night. I can think of at least 6 attacks started by those two, Robson got hoofed in the air twice, got clean through once and had a good effort saved. Foley scored, SHOULD have been played in by Brown whilst in a good position and then had a shot saved at the foot of the post right at the death.

If slagging off the players of the team you support when they win 3-0 floats your boat then fair enough, but to me it's senseless and negative.

Nick Loughlin gave Foley an Eight this morning in The Echo.

No, I was there til the end thanks.

I'm not slagging anybody off I'm merely stating my opinion on his performance, but why not exaggerate eh.

And I agree that Robson had a good game, as I've said elsewhere.

PS. Just cos Loff gave Foley an 8 it doesn't make it gospel, or have you never disagreed with newspaper ratings?

PPS. Wouldn't life be boring if we all agreed on everything?

1) Just cos you gave 3 examples above proves fuck all.

2) Nick Loughlin giving him an 8 only cements my opinion that he was poor. The guy is as clueless as Sam Lee was.

Right so your picking because I said he gave the ball away EVERY time? Obviously its exageration but more thann 50% of the time he had it, he gave it away. You naming 3 things he did right (wow!!) doesnt change that.

Did you love Istead just as much and were you unable to see all the times he was utter gash? He was just as useless.

First half was same old david foley, he did nothing and gave the ball away nearly every time. In the second half he did improve.
He had 3 chances:
porter set him up for an open goal
brown played him in for a one on one chance and credit to him he actually hit the target
the he made a chance for himself which the keeper made a good save.

Lets not get carried away on one performance, he played well but he isnt good enough for this league
