If you do YOU WILL get virussed up to feck.

A keygen doesn't actually install anything on your machine so you don't need administrator permissions to run it.
Your getting infected, however, implies this is exactly what you were doing.

In XP you're safe if you never run any program as an administrator. Always run with restricted privileges.

Unfortunately I think Vista takes a braindead approach to permissions and might actually invite you to run infected programs as administrator!
