This latest canoe story got me thinking that Hartlepool seems to get a fair bit of publicity but it always seems to be the wrong sort, ie bad publicity.

ie, monkey for mayor, hanging a monkey, lawrence, mandelson, Ian Wright (****er), lads pissing on a dead woman, one of the most unsuccessful proffessional football clubs with most re-elections, ghost ships, wayne sleep and now this canoe thing!

Oh, well at least we have Jeff Stelling to be thankful for

Come on gravedisorder, leave off Wayne Sleep.

It's no wonder because of that you didn't include Scott Henshall - like my dad, born in Hartlepool but no visible signs of an accent.

Although I jest about John Darwin, he's not exactly a positive role model from the town.

Wayne Sleep, a true poolie legend. The one world class thing we've ever produced.

Shame that Wayne Sleep was not born here but moved to the town when he was 5.

I thought there was no such thing as bad publicity.
When I used to be on my travels (especially down south) and someone asked where I was from, the response to my reply was usually something like "Where the F---s that then?
At least now I don't have to explain.

To digress, Did the Mail have to splash the Darwins story over 7 pages? There is hardly much worth reading in there to start with, but, to people like me who do not want to know about the avaricious pair of fookers, it left even less space for the banal.

I only get the paper for the sport and the hatchers, matchers and despatchers.
Today they split the nerws about Pools over 2 pages (as usual) and tell you to turn to page 41 when in fact its on page 40. Along with the poor grammar and spelling mistakes I am beginning to wonder who is in charge.

The Mail is a complete and utter joke, every single part of it.

Its a local paper. What the fook do you lot expect?

Anyway I asked the mail for a favour, and it delivered.

At least it listened to a customer.....unlike the club we all love.

I expect them to do the job right, is that wrong?
I imagine that they compose the newspaper on a computer these days so Switch on the spelling and grammar checker.
Even my cheap old WP has a decent one of those.

I used to get my mail delivered direct from the mail office but more often than not they did NOT deliver so now I get it myself.

When I'm asked where I'm from I reply, Toxic Town. People don't need to ask a second time.
