First half.

Played some decent stuff. The midfield wasnt right. Too many central midfielders.

Brown and Barker will never work. Thats never.

James Brown was superb. Tore them to pieces. Time and time again. Sweeney had a good first half. Got into some terrific positions for a full back. Final balls not the best.

Matty Robson was awful. Absolutely useless. Every time he had chance to run at the opposition he stopped and went back, and gave the ball away. Heading borders on embarrssing.

Nelson struggled a bit at the back, but overall we controlled their strikers. Collins was solid.

Barker huffed and puffed, but is never go blow that house down.

Jones was a big disappointment. He did some good things but his first touch was really poor and distribution was even worse.

Liddle played quite well, but suffered with the strange midfield. He didnt seem to know where he was meant to be playing.

Boland played ok, picking up the loose ball really well, but then his passing was less accurate than a blind man.

Budtz. What can I say. The man had nowt to do but still managed to kick sunderland onto the attack. Sorry but its a huge embarrassment to Wilson that Budtz is still here and an even bigger disgrace that Wilson actually picked him. Budtz sums up why I believe Wilson should be gone.

Last but definitely not least.............LADIES AND GENTLEMEN....PLEAE BE UPSTANDING FOR THE MAN WHO WILL IN TIME BECOME A POOLIE LEGEND.

I GIVE YOU....ALAN POWER.

This guy is immense. He ran the midfield......he isnt fit.....he is a bit overweight.....but he ran and ran and ran.....has a great shot, a strong tackle.......but best of all.......he is a ball playing midfielder, and he can run with it, and take players on.

I just hope Wilson was actually watching the game, and not sat with his head up Foley and Robson arses.

Alan Power will be a great player for pools....have no doubt about it. I loved his first half performance. Magic.

At last we have proper midfielder at the club. He is everything Jones isnt. Thats not to say Jones wont be a good player......he might. But Power is streets ahead.

Its just a shame that he didnt have Porter, Humphreys and Monkhouse playing with him in the first half......we would have had a hatfull.

Oh did I mention Power hit the bar twice in the first five minues?

Second half.

Was poor. We conceded a soft penalty but still had a couple of good chances to get back into it.

Jones had a slightly better second half but we conceded too much space, and Nelse and Collins struggled.

Power tired very quickly, and we started giving the ball away cheaply especially from Foley. No surprise there.

We improved again when Porter came on, and Humphreys. But even their distribution was poor.

This game was there for the taking........but I cant believe Wilson didnt stick Monkhouse on.

Butdz didnt have one save to make all game, except the penner.....but he still looked awful. His kicking and throwing is a joke. Hang your head in shame Wilson.

Overall a decent workout, but......and I know you will say its just me being negative......if Wilson is seriously considering Butdz Robson and Foley, we are in big big trouble.

They are alarmingly out of their collective depth.

The midfield needs more shape..........I love the idea of playing Liddle and Power in the middle, with Sweeney and Monkhouse wide.

Jones didnt impress me enough.........but there is something there.

Clearly Brown and Porter HAVE to be the front two. But I bet they arent.

The big plusses though were Brown....and my new favourite player.......POWER. clappp

some stuff spot on there Mr ADG. But you yet again spoil it for using the likes of Budtz & Foley to have a go at Wilson. Foley gave the ball away twice which at any level isn't considered THAT bad. and Budtz (and i completely agree that he is not good enough) made 2 dodgy kicks and thats it. no dodgy throws like you claim. Oh and Wilson HAD to play him to get him match fit, Wilson doesnt want him here, but if he cant get rid then he at least needs to be match fit.

But, you are spot on with Power. i can see him being a fans favourite. i like the way that he likes to kick people. not just some people, but ANYONE who comes to close rolfl

he was all over their midfielders like a rash.

i think if it had been Power, Liddle & Sweeney in that midfield yesterday, it would have been better balanced.

and be prepared to feel good people, we are about to see James Brown truly come of age. i heard he was 100/1 to be top scorer this season, i think it could well be worth a daft fiver on it.

I'm starting to feel a little excited about the new season, although we still need a full back & keeper.

Saying someone didnt play very well = calling them a bounder?

Nothing like making stuff up is there?

Then again your not the brightest tool in the box so what do I expect?

Do give over TWH, If i'm not the brightest, that makes you as bright as midnight

You are the most bitter and twisted example of 'Hartlepool Man' going

The bile you spill over Pools is spectacular, but never mind, do carry on with your one man campaign of schadenfreude

'oooh I told you, I told you and TOLD YOU all 'insert name of player hear was shite' and you are all to thick to notice it

You are like a stuck record

Sorry if this is being pedantic but there was one point where Budtz threw the ball directly to the feet of a Sunderland player who took a snap shot at goal but kicked it wide so there was one dodgy throw in there.

And ADG, just you remember who tipped you off about Power!

Yeah just one. McCunnie will do fine at right back, it's just the player of the century that needs replacing and pushing further up the field.
