The best thing to get is one of those stick type blender ones with blades on the end that you just put in a jug full of fruit. They are dead easy to clean, and loads cheaper.

I've got one of them. cheap and easy.

I chuck in a couple of bananas, some strawberries, and then any other fruit thats lying about. pineapple is good.

Then some ice. Ice is the magic ingredient. when you blend it with the fruit it gives a lovely smooth consistency to it. makes it cold as well, unsuprisingly.
