At first, I just couldn't imagine listening to him in a great concert hall full of people. Enjoy it, Groovy

The gig was absolutely wonderful, the man just oozes charm & presence, his band are perfect, the backing singers angelic,I really cant praise him highly enough.

We got to Newcastle & were due to get the 13:24 train to Edinburgh from platform 2.It came up on the board that the 13:24 would be going at 13:35.
At 13:35 a train comes into platform 2 with Edinburgh on the front so off we goes, the old witch checking tickets says "This is a cross country service you need national express which is 2 minutes behind this one" we tries to explain that we got on at the right platform at the right time etc but all we got was "Either pay £42 each or get off at Alnmouth".
We gets off at Alnmouth just after 2pm & are told there a cross country ay 4pm,it will cost us £25 each, theres a National express at 5pm,again £25 each as we should have been on the earlier train.
Going back to Newcastle is not an option, its that time consuming we would miss any connections.
As you would expect we decide go looking fo a pub & consider our options. The nearest pub was a 1 mile walk.At the pub we ordered the beer & asked about local taxis thinking it may be cheaper to make an offer for a taxi to take us & a guy at the bar overheard us.
This guy is a train driver,so he rings his colleagues, then drove down to the station & spoke to the ticket office staff & returned to the pub to tell us we are now on the 5pm national express train at no extra charge.
So eventually we got to Edinburgh 3 hours late because to a jobsworth old witch & inadequate station announcements.
At least the guy in Alnmouth restored our faith in human nature.

Well, you might not have enjoyed it so much if the trip had been plain sailing, Groovy.

Anyway (to elvis) it's a common misconception that Leonard is depressing. It's more that, when you're miserable, he makes you feel you're not alone

I know very little about Mr Cohen Grabec, other than I was put right off him when younger by a friend's obsession with him and Bob Dylan. I've listened to neither since, although I've sung one of his songs (Suzanne) in the past.

Suzanne is a lovely song.
Leonard and I go back a long way. I once (in a manner of speaking )shared a bed-sit in Balham with him and a mouse

Well said, people who say Leonard Cohen is depressing have usually heard his voice but not actually listened to his songs.
He has just announced some November dates so I think Mrs G & myself will be at the O2 on the 13th for a repeat performance.

this business of getting on exactly the right train etc is despicable, and nothing but a money grabbing exercise. I could understand it if the things were ram packed every day but they aren't. Renationalise the rail industry!!!
