Wikipedia sums up Jack Ross to a tea:

"Ross then signed a pre-contractual agreement with Hartlepool. However, things did not go to plan as Ross got injured after suffering ankle ligament damage and spent a large part of his time on the sidelines. Hartlepool funded his rehabilitation and also allowed him to return home. However, Ross refused to return to Hartlepool, train or play for the club and asked Hartlepool’s chairman Ken Hodcroft to tear up his contract claiming his was "homesick" . However, Hartlepool refused and asked for compensation and a refund of agent fees. Ross then left without consent and later went on sick and claimed that he wouldn’t return to Hartlepool even if "they were in the Champions League". He also criticised Hartlepool manager Neale Cooper for feeling let down by his actions, "Maybe the manager thinks I have let him down but that's nothing compared with how I feel about him." On July 31 2005, Hartlepool agreed to terminate his contract after finally receiving compensation, which included a refund of the fees paid to Ross’ agent."

Total tosser.

Joe Allon

I know the Allon call will not be popular but never, ever has a player been given so much love and admiration when they so little deserved it The 35 goals was impressive but we had the two best wingers in the history of the club knocking balls across dozens of times a game and the best flick-ons man we have ever had. Foley would have scored twenty.

Allon's second spell was a digrace. Overweight and disinterested most of the time. He played well against Lincoln because he felt slighted by them. And as we all know he put the ball in the net at Darlo when he had contributed virtually nothing else in the game.

He then got a 'knee injury' at a time when we desperately needed a striker. When advised that the specialist could find nothing wrong and that he could play with pain Allon could not take the retirement and PFA cheque fast enough. Compare and contrast that with Paul Baker in his second spell playing on through pain to try and dig Pools out of the relegation mire.

And as for that performance celebrating on the pitch with dirty Leeds last season!!!

Mike Newell (I couldn't think of a 3rd)

I can't see what Allon has done to be hated. He had a goal ratio of 1 in 3 on his second phase (with some of the worst midfielders the club has ever had behind him) and whether the club had the two best wingers they've ever had or not he still scored 35 goals in one season. He comes as a last throw of the dice against Darlo, scores and that is slated too. sctatchinghead sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

Llewellyn
Ross
John Gallacher

the first two for reasons already stated.

A lad I know asked Gallacher when he would be fit to play after his latest "injury."
He replied ,"Why would I want to be out there when I get just the same money stood here on the sideline."
Unbelievable - another spelk-faced mercenary and a complete fraud who didn't give two fucks about playing for us when he was here.

By the way, how can anybody not like Beech, he was, as we'd say down here, a total LEG-END !!!!!

As was Freestone and Beardsley.

If you mean 'dislike' as opposed to 'wish wasn't playing' (or in Jack Ross' case, 'wish was playing  ), my only one is Gordon Watson...never could stand him in spite of what he achieved

Aye, but apart from that......?

Apart from that? Or why is he?

He demanded to get away from my recollection. Thought he was too good for us.

And even if he was "too good for us" at that time he thought that he was better than he really was too.

Hence my succinct analysis of him.

Lost respect for allon with the celebrating on the pitch thing for leeds, he should have respect for the club which mainly got him where he is now.

I have major respect for players who score against former clubs and dont celebrate, cos they genuinly loved the club, Tevez, Robbie Keane, Chris Westwood etc etc.

That must be the first and last time that Westwood will be compared with Keane and Tevez. rolfl

I cant believe you said spike, Mutley, even after he come back to Pools on a month's loan last season.

Quite nostalgic that.

He was quite key to our first play-off challenges, him.

To be honest Ybep he didn't get that far did he. Aye, he went to Chelsea, but he couldn't quite work his magic there could he.

This is the same man we are talking about who scored the famous last minute goal against Darlo to keep us up /

Who scored against Northampton in 91 to promote us ?

Otherwise we could have ended up like Scarborough.
