Katcha's avatar has stirred up some memories for me-
Do any bunkerites happen to know how the name came about?
I'm sure there's many different legends

It's the 407th sqdrn of the RCAF (royal canadian air force) that was vital to the war effort - by an undersung ally. 407 sqdrn sunk more shipping than any other sqdrn of its group - flying blenheim, hudson and wellington bombers. It was initially set up as a coastal strike sqdrn and later became a general recon sqdrn. other RCAF units were also called - and still are - called moosemen.

I think some people were on acid travelling to a Pools away game and one of them shouted out the window "Get out of the way we're the Hartlepool United Moosemen"
Cue under the influence hilarity and the name sticking.

it was a mix there was a few manor lads, some ex tunny, belle vue, seaton lane - just a thing of that era and something that happened - a lot dont live in the town anymore, some stuck together longer than others, some didnt, others moved on. shit happens.

i remember the day this happened - we had been in elwick on the drink and playing mot in the bus stop on the green and they fell out of the car window on the way home.

My mate designed those calling cards for a laugh--

We shat ourselves when that article was in the Mail--they were comparing us to the Chelsea Head Hunters--

They were appearing at crime scenes all over the north east
