Here's our potential team next season;

..............New Keeper...................

Sweeney Collins Clark or Nelson Liddle

Brown.... Power.... Jones..... Monkhouse

...........Porter New Striker...............

Players competing for the starting line up;

Humphreys
Barker
McCunnie
Mackay
Nelson or Clark
Boland
Rowell
Tymon
Foley
Robson

I think we're likely to sign a right back as well so that's another player added to the squad. For me we aren't shaping up too badly at all, our midfield is potentially excellent. I'd like us to sign a proper right winger so Brown is free to play up front with Joel. Then I'd allow myself to get (dons tin hat) quite optimistic about the new season with my new £140 cheaper season ticket!

I apologise for my moment of extreme weakness. I'm off for a cold shower then I'm going to throw Clemmie's at that car show room who are GIVING AWAY season tickets. I'll end the day by throwing darts at my Danny Wilson poster.

Then I'll be cleaned.

I think you're possibly a bit too optimistic about the midfield given we know next to nothing about the two players there.

I'd certainly advocate Liddle playing at left back as he always shone there when he first signed and after his performances last season I don't think we'd miss him too greatly in the middle.

I also feel slightly more positive about next season than 24 hours ago which is strange considering the only difference is one unproven addition who could still turn out to be shite!

isn't McCunnie meant to be a right back?!

I think he'd class himself as a midfield player, I think he said as much last season that he doesn't really enjoy playing at right back. He looks a little down the pecking order at the moment in midfield.

Has Liddle ever played left back for us, I remember him playing right back but not on the left.

I think it may be a bit premature certainly to include Power and maybe even Jones as well in midfield. Wilson has said Power is one for the future and will not start straight away. Even Jones will start on the bench I think. These two signings are speculative and we will have to wait and see how they shape up in training, etc...

His first games for the club were as a left back and he was impressive.

I still wonder why people are labelling Wilson as a 'lovely lovely person'. I don't really see him as a bad guy.

With a keeper and a forward, our team will be back on form again.

Two players sign..... and EVERYTHING IS LOOKING GOOD rolf
.... sadly, some people would be on the point of footballing orgasm if we'd signed two radiators

Howay Snowy, you'll still be there.... clappp clappp

Playing Gary Liddle at left back, or as someone else said, on the left wing instead of Monkhouse would be a disaster. He's a defensive midfielder with a good shot.

This for me:

Aaron Lee Barratt

Tony Sweeney, Mickey Nelson, Sam Collins, Ritchie Humphreys

Jamie McCunnie, Gary Liddle, Ben Clark, Andy Monkhouse

James Brown, Joel Porter.

Now if you're still slitting your wrists at the prospect of that lot taking the field, maybe you should succeed.

likewise, we could win the league and people would still be criticising our goal difference.

i see no harm in feeling pleased with two signings that at first glimpse seem like good business. pointless getting carried away, but even more of a waste of energy pissing and moaning about it.

You both miss my point...whereas some will moan at every move, some will pass out with joy at any move....if you'd read my comments on the signings on another post you'd see my point of view, which is let's see how they do....no criticism and no praise.

Barring Monkhouse, that's a very defensive midfield. McCunnie on the right? Definitely not. If this lad Jones is an attacking central midfielder and a good one at that then he should slot in ahead of Ben Clark, who I'd move back to centre-half along with Collins.

As for your selection, I suspect 'Plck n Mix' Wilson will see it different.

Aye but what was our defensive record like last season?? I say start defending on the halfway line.
