My point about the language used in The Mail though is that I don't expect to see stories or headlines containing terms such as "nicked" or "swiped" when referring to people stealing things. Do you not concur?

If the mail used posh words, and not words people of hartlepool could relate too, like nicked, then one may accuse the mail of snobbery and not being at the level of the towns folk.

Ah, but I'm not suggesting that they use "posh words", merely correct English. :laugh:

At the rate which they are currently "dumbing down" we will be seeing common Anglo-Saxon terms such as "fck" and "cnt" being printed by the end of the decade.

Fully concur, my friend.

You'll not see words such as "nicked" or "Swiped" on my watch.

"Steal" is hardly a posh word. I think most people know its meaning.
"Nicked" is cheap and nasty.

Now "Misappropriate", that's posh! :wink:

But nicked is still better than burglarized. :laugh:
