Just been and had lunch there. Bloody lovely.

£5.50 for a big plate full of freshly made fish and chips- not posh stuff, just like what you'd get in the chippy only very fresh and very very nice. For the bigger boned amongst you they do what they call a "King Cod" portion for an extra couple of quid, but for the normal, slim folk like me the normal portion is more than sufficient. They do other fish stuff too for the fussier amongst you.

I think it certainly puts the "what is the best chippy" argument to bed. This place wins hands down.

If I had to pick fault, which of course I do, there's only three things I could fault them for. They don't take debit cards so you gotta have cash, the bread buns are a little on the small side, and they don't give you a fish knife to eat your fish with.

Get yourselves to try it, I don't reckon you'll be disappointed.

They serve them on a plate to your table. It's not the olden days now. They even have tartare sauce and salad served with it, although I told them not to bother wasting salad on us cos we'd just leave it anyway.

Ps. What's the matter with wanting a fish knife Mr Bap?

It's on the front as you go into Seaton, in the new building next to where the baths used to be.

I always thought Spaldings was reliable in the early-to-mid nineties, shame it was bequeathed to Charlie's.

The best chip shop I've ever been to is on Bev. Road in Hull, opposite the new Tesco Express - it's one of about 3 food outlets/restaurants that has the A-grade (as I'm sure Matty Robson's Chin is well aware of). Cheap as hell, massive patties, good spam fritters... happy days clappp

The F&C round here are shite. I'm sure they fish them from the pure blue waters of the Don or the Trent. Though to be fair it's mainly the chips that are shite. The fish are "eatable". Sometimes.

Howay then, where do you live in the Lister Street area. Unfortunately Flaxton Street is a mere shadow of what it used to be. I can still recall all the family's that lived the length of the street.

King Cod was shut at half eight on Sturday night. Not impressed!

Had to settle for Youngs as the "least worst" other option at Seaton.

Didn't have enough petrol to drive anywhere else

Sign on the door said that it closed at 9pm every day.

Maybe they'd sold out after my recommendation.

Yeah, something's happened to Verrill's, Mr Three Pint is correct. I began to suspect something when I saw it'd been painted yellow. Has it been taken over by some dodgy chain?

Leg of lamb, jersey royals, carrots and yorkshire puddings tonight with plenty home made gravy.

I love cooking cos I love eating.

And I was too pissed to cook the Sunday dinner when I got home from The Masters on Sunday night. :uhoh:
