I think that chavs used to sneak on the bus through the middle door so that is why they were done away with.

Well, as we're talking about buses, I got on one to Middlesbrough recently, and it had no suspension, no padding in the seats, and it reeked of derv fumes. You pay them a fiver and in return they give you asthma and multiple bruising

no offence meant to Mr Bus - but I would rather walk in the pissing down rain than get on a PSV in this town!!!!
TAXI!!!!!
In a place like London there's no choice but to use them if there are no available train services to the specific destination (ie the 1 and a half mile bus trip to Brentford's ground from the nearest tube station) -oh and the fact that the travelcard covers your bus journey as well as tube/train journey. Also the treks to Oxford and Wycombe football grounds from the town centres but that's about it. That is the only time I'd get on one - drunk and in a different town and no alternative but to use it.
I'd never use it to get around the North East.

Ever thought of addressing this issue in the 20 minutes between King Oswy and town? Or previously by actually looking at any buses in the town for the past 15 years?

To be fair, you don't bother checking something if you've no reason to believe it's not still there.

On the other hand, don't bother popping down to Binns, Dibble.......

I used one yesterday.

For the first time since 1984.

I got on at the Gillan Arms to go to the town centre. I popped into the shop to get some change first.

I got on, told him where I wanted to go, and then waited to give him my 60p. And then he told me it was £1.45. I think a taxi might have been cheaper.

if you can get a taxi from clavering to the town for £1.45 i will pay it for you.
so in the 24 years since you used a bus you thought the fares wont have gone up much despite fuel being at an all time high and us drivers being paid the princely amount of £8.05 an hour

Anyway.....off we went.

I was the only passenger. So I sat near the front.

Until we got down King Oswy. And then the first two young mothers got on. And sat right in front of me, with push chairs and moaning babies.

And then an old dear got on......as she started to walk up the aisle to find a seat, the bus pulled off, she nearly fell over.

At this I though I had better move to the back, in case any more elderly people got on.

By the time we reached West View shops the bus was full. And each time the bus moved away before the old people could sit down.
right we would love to have the time to enable our passengers to peruse the seats on offer then eventually decide to sit BUT we have a timetable to run to
from bamburgh court to bournemouth drive we have THREE MINUTES that is to stop pick up passengers and negotiate the route including roundabout and traffic calming measures.
we then have 5 minutes to travel to the brus over 10 speed bumps six bus stops 2 pelican crossings and a caravan and parked cars opposite each other thus reducing the road to a single lane for all traffic.

Nearly everyone stood up and moved to the exit before the bus stopped at their destination.
because at the bus stops the pensioners getting on wont wait for them to walk to the exit they want to be on and now!

When I came to get off, I didnt do that.

And the worst thing was.......when I went to get off, I was looking for the exit door half way up the bus. It was gone.

I had to quickly move down to the front.

Whatever happened to the mid exit doors?
