Usual sentencing means doing half of your sentence inside and half as a community sentence. Good behaviour means you can apply to come out early - one month early methinks.
So if he behaves, and considering he has a job and career to come out to, he may be out after two months. That is of course, presuming he isnt bummed to death

So he ends upp painting fences or doing football in the community, on full pay no doubt while he is in the nick

This story really baffles me. i feel that the jury have tried to make an example out of Barton just because he is a footballer! OK he is a thug and probably deserves a term inside, but:

If he was a smack head he would have got a slap on the wrist and community service
If it was a general member of the public who beat that kid up again community service

lets think of the scenario, it was 5am or something and a 16 year old scouser was the victim? i think BArton could have been intimidated and i am not condoning his behaviour, but i strongly feel he has been made a scapegoat. at the end of the day what the fcuk was a 16 year old doing out at that rediculous hour?

The term given is fair enough, he was already on probation, wasn't he

It wasn't just a scrap with a pissed up sixteen year old he had drunk nearly fifteen pints and punched the kid in the face with enough force to knock most of his teeth out

And lets face facts, he isn't going to loose his job, he will no doubt still get paid whilst in the jug..
