I thought Pompey did well and was pleased to see them win. Great for Harry. Long live the FA cup. Nice to see two unfashionable clubs fight out the final.

the FA cup is a non-competition, it used to mean something but means fook all now. Mutleys thread about daytime TV was spot on, BBC1 used to have a full day dedicated to it

The FA Cup does mean something to anyone who isn't compltely thick. Sadly there are plenty of complete dickheads in the football world both players and managers and also supporters who devalue the competition and over value the importance of being part of the the premiershite.....

I didn't watch it - took the opportunity to go in town while it was quiet (it wasn't).

Still, the best televised football match I ever saw was Liverpool vs West Ham in the FA Cup Final a couple of years ago - absolutely brilliant.

And you can't argue that the FA Cup this year was brilliant in parts, namely Barnsley knocking out Chelsea and Liverpool and Havant & Waterlooville storming through the rounds

If I thought you were remotely interested or would even begin to show an interest in the answer I would tell you.
However I would be delighted to discuss the matter with you over a pint sometime..................your shout of course.

On another point, the reason the BBC don't go overboard anymore is because live football is so common these days. The Cup Final and the Home internationals used to be the only live domestic football shown on TV, so it was more of a phenomenon. As for players and fans the cup still holds a lot of magic.

Harry is a media darling so 'it's great for Harry'. Personally I was desperate to see Ridsdale fail so I'm happy but the whole event was so exciting that I went shopping with the Mrs. Next Sunday is the main event, obviously, but Stockport 'v' Rochdale is more enticing than today's non event. Money/TV has killed 'real' football

I watched the game but found it hard to get excited because I have nothing but total apathy for both clubs. And brilliant football didn't come along to save the day.

I know its easy to get disillusioned about the top clubs being greedy and hoarding all of the money but at least attendance figures for League One and League Two are up last year. I agree with Lord Mawhinney's statement last week saying that we don't want to see kids in Carlisle wearing Chelsea shirts and supporting teams they will never see - we have the same problem in Hartlepool with plastic Mags. The kids for free thing is a step in the right direction - lets hope it continues. Real football is still alive and kicking...

I didn't watch much of the game as it was so poor - not a patch on most of the play-off games over the last two weeks that have had goals, excitements, passion. Boring, boring Portsmouth beat Manure from a pen, won the semi and final against lower league teams by one nil with both goals scored from about 12 inches. Is it a coincidence that Tony Adams has moved from boring, boring Arsenal to inject his boring, boring style to Portsmouth.

Congratulations Katcha. I don't think I've ever seen such a succinct post elicit such a verbose collection of replies!
