Sorry, but i have to argue with you there. Watch the 1999 European Cup semi final 2nd leg again, he won that match almost single handed. He is the best 'holding' midfielder of modern times.

and yes, Man U are my 2nd team

Even Roy Keane and 50 million quid won't keep Sunderland up next season.

His attitude towards his fellow pro's was appaulling, Haaland being the one that sticks in the mind as well as the mockery he made of his national team right before a World Cup.

He definately had a fair amount of talent but as a human being he is pathetic. Some probably only remember his finer points but his stamping on people on the deck, squaring up to refs and other footballers and other acts that have no place in footy are why I dislike him so much. I don't rememeber him picking a fight with someone who would give it back.
As a manager he comes across different but he's still the same person that deliberately tried to end another persons career.

he's tiny. I walked past him in Wolviston service station after paying for my petrol, and the first thing I thought wasn't, "Look, it's Roy Keane",it was, "I'd fuc-king knack you piece of piss you little shit"!

Yes the Haaland incident was well out of order, but all of the stamping, elbow and general fighting was part of the 'old style of football' that was getting stamped out, theres no difference in that sense between say Keane & Souness. Only difference was in Keanes era, that style was being stamped out. I'd love someone like him in the middle of Pools midfield. He would drag the weak up to HIS level, we are desperate for that type of player.

Technically he got his own back on Haaland. Wrong in what he did, definitely, but he had a twisted reason.

And after Niall Quinn made history as being the first man to fire himself as manager, Keane turned Sunderland around. The facts are there. He's one of the few managers that tells it like it is and I respect him for it.

I reckon Sunlun will hold on for another year.

A monkey in a fire mans suit could of 'turned them around'.......................

He's Quinns best mate, he's a thug, but he looks all serious and hard, when in fact he couldn't fight sleep
Mick Smith would of had him for tea, as would Dean Emerson

Roy Keane was the greatest player of his type in the First Division/Premier Division for a generation. Clough and Ferguson certainly thought so and they aren't bad judges. Whiel he may have been a nasty bastid/chewy/dirty twat at times, he was a fantastic footballer with a huge will to win. As a manager, he seems to have re-invented himself. He doesn't allow his players to question the officials and maintains a strict discipline. He has made mistakes but is a quick learner and is arguably the best manager under 45 in the country. His achievements at Sunderland shouldn't be underestimated.

What achivements, spending, what is it, about £60million and avoiding relegation by a few points, tell you what, I'll get the bunting out and you start baking a cake old son

PS

Paul Ince is under 45 and a better manager

Keane's spending over the course of the season was utterly laughable considering what sort of quality they brought in. Compare it to someone like Mark Hughes who spent about a tenth of what Keane including the signing of Santa Cruz, the bargain of the season at less than £3,000,000.

He has blew tens of millions of pounds on Championship players. People are raving about Jones, FFS the guy has scored about half a dozen goals, he is brilliant in the air but he'd look like a fish out of water in a team that played football.

I think he has a lot to prove as manager, but I do like his press conferences and principles regarding discipline, I wish a few more were like him in that regard.

I should point out that the Witch Finder General will be going on holiday soon and as an act of clemency has decided that instead of the burning and the ever popular .... hang, draw, quarter option (due to be changed to hang, draw, 0.25 option, in line with metrication  ) his gluttonness Isiah Dibble has agreed to substitute the option of stoning or flogging plus a large fine instead. All cheques made payable to ...Witch Finder General Holiday Research Fund, for a trial period, that being defined as the time it takes to amass a suitable amount for the said holiday.... ooops, overseas research :uhoh:
Any 'funds' remaining will be used to finance the purchase of a state of the art ducking stool.

I always respected (if most of the time disagreeing with) Mr B's posts, however I can't look past the Manure thing now.
Next time I disagree with him I will use this as an argument stick, to render his opinion null and void on a Hartlepool message board!!!
Mr Head, what was the name of that internet "law" again? I hereby invoke similar, from now on it shall be known as "Manure Law."
Everyone feel free to implement said law from now on!!!!

Hang on, let's do this properly first.

All those in favour of "Manure Law" say AYE

You must mean Godwin's law, which states that in every thread that is long enough someone will inevitably make a comparison with Hitler or the Nazis.
Other laws include the Car Analogy law which states that whenever people have run out of new spins on a subject to get their point home they will use a car analogy.
I'm not sure what the exact rules could be for a manure law, but one thing for sure is it needs a better name. Hence let the proposer step forth: ladies and gentelemen, I give you Parmo's Law!

Roy Keane was a horrible thug who should have been banned from the game sine die a long long time ago. If you did that stuff in Church Street, without even the excuse of heavy drinking you'd have been imprisoned. Wistful remembrances of his 'competitiveness' are just romantic. He's a horrible, horrible, wilfully violent man. and a ghost writer can't alter that fact, only mist it up a bit.
