Petrol Stations....The Demise Of!!!!

Me and a workmate were talking about Petrol Stations today and saying that the Supermarkets have done the same job on them as they have on Pubs....ie.they are closing down because they can't compete with the Supermarket Petrol Stations!!!! confised

So where were all these Petrol Stations in the Town that have now disappeared????

I'll start off with....Clarence Road and Belle Vue Way!!!! sadx

Completely different in my opinion.......

They closed because the petrol was more expensive then the supermarkets and it's not as if they offered anything different, I can't recall the owners coming out and filling the tank and cleaning my windscreen

There was two at the Travellers, the Fens, one near the roundabout on the way to the Marina.....

there used to be a fina near halfords
a derv pump near british steel
one near the bookies at the bottom of station road seaton

And everyones missed Gales on York Road were Quick Save is - pumps on pavement and you had to pull unto a little bay - I remember it well as some loon knocked me off me bike by opening her door whislt I was going past - didnt even think about compo and my pedal went into my toe - ouch

Brings back memories, I used to work in the petrol station near to the traffic lights at Travellers ( were Janard nursing home stands now) and the one on the outward carriageway down from travellers. Both run by Ewart Parson and supplied by ICI for petrol. Another company that has almost disappered.
