Home is the key. There wasn't too many easy ties in that lot and because the managers tend to use this competition to try out players you can't just assume Doncaster is more difficult that say Accrington.

Yup they certainly did. Obviously the teams are split into a north and south section, but then number of games has to be consistent so it gets down to a fianl 2 in each section. So say there were supposed to have been 10 games played that wouldn't have worked out so therefore teams are given byes to make this possible.

But Notts County and Forest in the southern section though stupid

It's consistent though. I don't see any teams further north than them in the groupings.

I guess I phrased that confusingly. What I meant was in the two Southern groups the Nottingham teams are no doubt the furthest north, but the teams in two the Northern groups are even further north than them.
