You can get as pesonal as you want but you look silly having a go at me when i go to work and contribute yet those who you are defending don't and are completely bone idol.....[/quote]

Not everyone who is unemployed is bone 'idle', nor is everyone on a minimum wage 'thick'

Once you start chipping away at the NHS and who and who not it looks after based on their employment and wage status, you will be left with the American model, and 99% of posters on the board would be fooked.....

The NHS is great in theory.

As is communism.

But it doesn't work in practice.

People who are genuinely unable to work because of illness or disability should be better looked after by the state than they currently are.

Those swinging the lead should be hung out to dry and given nowt.

It is unfortunate in today's society that there are too many lazy bastads who don't want to work, and they spoil it for the rest.

We (me and a mate who's Mam was a nurse for 32 years before she had a stroke after 5 consecutive night shifts) once did a fag packet survey on the hospital she was in. Bassetlaw District General. We concluded that 66 'patient facing' (sorry, not my phrase, it means grafters I think) staff ran the five wards 24 hours a day, for a week.

The hospital employs 1254 people.

My two pennorth is that, if the real people didn't have to put up with the shite from the ghost people (the top dog at Bassetlaw gets 112K a year) sitting at 'resources meetings' and suchlike bollocks, the whole thing would revolve much faster, healthier and happier.

I can guarantee that I could spend a year at an NHS hospital, halve it's budget and double it's results. :sweeeet: :sweeeet:

Ripper, at the moment you appear to be in good health and plan to have a long and fruitful working life no doubt.

But, god forbid something bad happened to you (car accident for argument's sake), it may be that you end up taking out a hell of a lot more than you put in. And you may not be able to work again to pay back what you took out.

I concur.

Hence my earlier post regarding genuine cases and people swinging the lead.

Ah but Mr Nottingham, why would the bill for what he took out be so large?

Because the overhead is so massive. Because you have to pay 30 people while 3 look after you. Because they buy premium price drugs from their favoured suppliers. Because the Chief Execs office costs 90K a year to decorate. because they 'reorganise' every two months.

Because they flushed TWELVE BILLION QUID down the toilet on a hopelessly ambitious computer system that didn't beep once.

How many career nurses do you get for 12 Bill??

Etc etc etc.

Remember, we're all just 6 weeks away from the nash...if things go tits up financially.... and don't ever say it won't, you'll soon change your tune.

That's fair enough, but you seem to miss my point

even a right wing high flying, look after oneself, golf playing love the queen gor blimey govner type , would be fooked if you ever got ill in an America stylee health system, because they will bleed you dry for the smallest of things

Surely they should make every effort to stop the bleeding?

In the good old U S of A they have health insurance which means you pay in similar to how National Insurance works except it aint the state collecting it at source with no choices.

I'd be happy with that system here, and the amount I spend on NI contributions now (which I would abolish) could go towards that instead thanks.

If only that was the case........
