There does seem to be a big divide between this league and the championship. Invariably the smaller teams promoted from Div 3 struggle and only last a season or two. I think the best we could ever achieve would be to become a yo-yo club between them two leagues.

Bristol City aren't doing too bad, but then they have a 'big club' infrastructure.

When you look at clubs of a similar catchment area to us, Stockport, Rotherham and Crewe did a few years up there between them. If we emulate them I'll be happy (apart from the financial backlash obviously).

Could be another ex massive team for us to visit next season.
Don't think we've ever played Leicester or Southampton in the league before. I'm sure we've played Coventry. And as for Sheff. Wed..........

If only you could buy it here, I might be on a level playing field and I'm banned from giving my own opinion because what do I know?? I've been gone too long, they tell me. There's no such thing as knowledge outside the UK.

However, you will find that all those things are culled from the cognoscenti's posts this year, the year we finished top of the bottom half on division three.

Soooo....sack the manager, drop six of the team, and we need a new board.

They're fookin' priceless aren't they. rolfl rolfl rolfl

Pools should try to emulate Bristol City if they're ever to make anything of the Championship. We'd only ever stay for a season tops anyway. I'd be proud as hell to get there either way, but given the money gap I can't see it ever being possible to do well. Not that I care - I'm happy for us to be a solid League One club

Bingo, Ginge, good call. We simply will never get the crowds and therefore the infrastructure to more than barely survive there. We just can't compete with the clubs up there and the thought that we can is romantic. confised

I'd love us to do it but we couldn't be more than a bottom six side, and there's not much to be said for that.

Having said that if we made it, even for 5 minutes, my head would be like a fifty shilling piss pot. clappp

I work about 15 mins from the new ground. Actually had a trip there about a month ago. Looks a tidy ground, 10,000 all seater. Pity it will host 1st division footy next season though

despite what we see as tinkering week in week out when it's not always necessary, what Wilson has definitely done - so far as the outside world is concerned - is increase his profile considerably by getting the team promoted first time and achieving a comfortable mid table finish (although I still maintain would have been very different if the pressure hadn't been well and truly taken off by Bournemouth's and Luton's points deductions, and a very timely 3 match winning burst).
I also subscribe to the theory that he's looking to take steps back towards "bigger" jobs again in the future. How ironic would it be if he ended up back at Barnsley or Sheff Wed again? I think he would take the Huddersfield job like a shot if it was offered to him.

Neale Cooper was the best man for this job we've had for a long time. We need to find another like him.

I wonder if Wilson is one of the six?

Tis a programme on BBC 3 on a Sunday night, fairly funny it is as well. The 2 people in the picture wrote it and star in it but are not Gavin and Stacey though.

You do of course realise that statistically speaking, Danny Wilson is far and away the most successful manager ever don't you?
