Selling my car tomorrow, my problem is this!

I had my own plates on and have had them taken off on retention, I have received the certificate back along with the MOT and have put the old plates back on, but have lost the MOT certificate. QUESTION Can I put it in for an MOT without the certificate if I have the Log book?

PLEASE no daft remarks on this one sadx

Should be ok if the log book is current and has the 'original' number on (the one you have reverted back to). I'd take all of the paperwork along to the garage in case there is any confusion. As everything is all computerised now & you have received the paperwork back, the details should have been updated and cross referenced to chassis / car number.

Should still be ok if you take all the paperwork - they don't need the tax disc for the MOT although the people buying the car may be expecting it. If so you could refund them the equivilent money and if you find the tax disc you can then get a refund - it will give you the incentive to find it.

can you not get a replacement mot certificate from the garage who tested it the database will be updated from swansea so they should be able to get you a duplicate.
Replacing lost or damaged certificates

If you have lost or damaged your MOT Test Certificate, you can obtain a duplicate from any MOT Testing Station by providing: the Vehicle Registration Mark; and either the original MOT Test Number or Document Reference Number (shown on the V5C Registration Certificate issued by the DVLA).

the tax disc you should be able to get a duplicate

by the way if your car is ever stolen with your plate on it and isnt recovered you have to wait 12 months before you can get it back banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead
so if someone is going to nick your car ask for notice so you can put your plate on retention :sweeeet:
