Up until their penalty, Tranmere were the better team.

It was a penalty...what happened was McCunnie made a bad pass, Moore nipped in and McCunnie unintentionally brought him down. It all happened very quickly. Yes he did deny him a goalscoring chance but I felt that ALB was probs going to get their first. Again it all happened very quickly. Jeff Winter was on about "sensible refereeing" a few weeks ago and sensible refereeing would to have given McCunnie a yellow card because if you give red cards like that then you should be consistent and give them red cards when the other teams does it as well.

Greenacre took the pen...ALB saved but Greenacre slotted home the rebound, which he followed up by the most over the top celebration in front of the Pools fans.

The red card seemed to spur us on and we really battled. We closed down really quickly and very hungry, I noticed this creeping into our game against Huddersfield and long may it continue because we are very difficult to play against when we play like that.

We had the better of the play and we were pressing for an equaliser in the second half. Then Nelson sliced a clearance and it went behind him and into his own goal, leaving ALB helpless.

Humphreys pulled one back with a good header.

Then Porter was brought down in the box. On the scale of things it was *slightly* less of a goalscoring oppertunity than the first...but their wasn't even a yellow. Now if you give a red card for McCunnie then you have to at the very least book the Tranmere player. Craddock sent his pen wide.

We had a fair few chances to score from then onwards but all hopes were ended when they scored again.

Penalty incident aside: the referee was shocking and gave us nothing and seemed to give them everything. I haven't had a go at a referee for a while but he was pathetic.

Conclusion: Signs are good but work still needs to be done.

Edit: *sigh*, yes "slightly" for me means it was but I'm a Pools fan so I'll moan about it anyway.

I give up (well not really) I'm gonna have to start drinking at these games because I obviously don't see the same game.

Most over the top goal celebration ffs give your head a shake man, he ran away like the chimney sweep on Mary Poppins.

Slightly less of a goalscoring opportunity ffs sctatchinghead moore went down between penalty spot and little box with a tackle from behind and was sent off with not a single word, that's not one word of disaproval from any Pools player including fiery Mcunnie, porter went down at edge of little box coming in from the side and was brought down from the side with other players round him.

Can't disagree with much else cos you didn't say owt else apart from the obvious.
You weren't stood up in front of Mr Ticklehill were you

As for the red card, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 5 being yellow and 8 being red and 9 and 10 being really red. Then McCunnie's was a 7. It was not intentional, he went for the ball. He got the player, they got a pen, he gets sent off where a player down for at least 60 mins.

Tranmere F.C. say it was harsh so I'm with them on this one so I back them all the way on this claim regardless of what anyone else says (including Pools).

Up to half time, both teams were shite. After 90 minutes I'd say without hesitation that Pools *looked* the better team. This is a game we were well capable of winning.
But we didn't. It's not a disaster and nothing to worry about. On another day we would have won it. Every team has unfortunate defeats from time to time.
Losses occur, but this wasn't a bad loss.

The referee got both penalty decisions spot on, I don't really see how there is any argument.

Some people haven't been to the matches, that's why you state the obvious.
