Well on my way out of Maiden Castle at lunchtime after another victory for my works five-a-side team during which I broke my goal drought of several weeks and took my seasons tally to double figures and we clinched another three points to put us top of the table with just a single game to play, I'm waffling! I spotted one Mr James Brown.

Not only did Mr Brown look healthy and happy, he was taking part in a game of keepy up volley ball (have I just made that game up? little net, four players) with some of the youth team, I stood and watched for a few minutes as Mr Brown comfortably controlled the ball with both feet and seemed unrestricted in his movements.

He'll be back in first team contention in no time.

Anyway, back to our league, we've only got one game to play, but that is against a team who have three to play, if they win their two in hand they will be top by a point, at present the game is unscheduled as they complete their fixture backlog. It looks likely that they will win their remaining two games which sets up a winner takes all final game of the season. How exciting!!

When your telling a good story like that, can you please not waffle, we don't want to know about James Brown.

Did I report back after our cup exit? Playing the only team to beat us in the league this season we took a 1-0 lead into the second half. They levelled not long after the restart and full time came with no further scoring. The league game nearly ended with a fight in the changing rooms as we played with no ref so a few meaty challenges occured without the game stopping. So the cup match was played at 100 mph.

Extra time came and went with both sides having chances to win but neither able to find the onion bag. So it went to the dreaded penalty shoot out. We only managed to score one as mine was saved, one player missed the goal altogether and another clipped the post. Our keeper saved two but it wasn't enough and we crashed out of the competition.

Obviously we are concentrating on the league now!

To be honest mate you lot are a league side, cups have never been your speciality.

Best to get everyone fit and focus on the league now.
