David Hodgson is taking legal advice after being sacked as Darlington boss.
Quakers chairman George Houghton asked Hodgson to relinquish his post on Wednesday, claiming he had held talks about taking charge at another club.

Hodgson told BBC Radio Cleveland: "I am being advised now by a group of lawyers and I have to take the steps that they advise me to take.

"At the end of it all I will tell the truth, the full facts surrounding myself and Darlington Football Club."

Houghton says Hodgson was sacked for three reasons - team performances, an alleged link to the vacant manager's job at Bournemouth and an undisclosed matter which is being dealt with in conjunction with the Football Association.

The Quakers chairman says the FA discovered items following a 'forensic report' at the Arena last week which the club are taking further guidance on.

He was quick to praise Hodgson for his achievements during his time in charge at Darlington but says the club must now move on.

Houghton said: "David's been very loyal to the club over the years.

"Him and I gelled well but unfortunately circumstances came up and I've had to make a decision.

"This is a big club, a Premiership sized club. stupid stupid We're going to make it work and make sure the fans are very happy. We've got to get results on the pitch."
