I've just seen it for the first time on Virgin Highlights!!!!

I've watched it half a dozen times and I can't see how anyone can defend Collins!!!!

He clearly Elbowed the lad in the face....it's blatantly obvious he done it on purpose!!!! confised

How Wilson can defend him and say they are going to appeal is beyond me!!!! confised confised

I would have fined him!!!! confised

Nobody is disagreeing that there was an elbow.

From what I've seen on the enhanced replay shown on the Championship...it was nowhere near his head.

I cannot see the Virgin replay as my comp is fooked and my lap-top wont load videos.

I DO NOT think we should be appealing and would be very suprised if we won our appeal.

Finally...regardless of whether Collins did or not, Southend were a very dirty team and they were masters of using the elbow themselves.

From what I can see....he definetly connected with him and it looks like he definetly intended to!!!! confised

The appeal could go against him....they could give him a longer ban if they think he done it on purpose....couldn't they???? sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

Disagree Mr Mutley.

I've just watched it first time from your link.

To me their guy was trying to manouevre Collins out of the way and he swung his arm to get him off him- and it only looked to hit his chest not his face.

By the way, their winner is the worst goal I can remember us conceding for a very long time. Shocking.

The clip on the Championship was much clearer and showed Collins and Barnard both trying to out muscle the other and looked completely harmless. There is a strong case for an appeal. The ref and linesman didn't even know who to send off ffs!

Coming at this from a different angle - Am I right in thinking that where a player appeals against a red card their ban does not start until the point that the appeal is declined? I'm trying to find out on the FA website but it's terrible. If so does it mean that he can play tonight, unless the FA are quick with a decision?

Personally I don't think it'll be overturned, there was enough movement of Collins' arm to justify the ban being upheld - whether it was a red is a different matter.

From Pools' perspective their in a no-lose situation, if the appeal is overturned Collins can play another 3 games before going back to Hull. If it's upheld then he'll go back to Hull regardless of whether the ban remains at 3 games or is increased (highly unlikely I would say).

I never watch the 'highlights' of a Pools away defeat anymore, it's too much to bear

I half expect to see our 'defence' come out for the second half in a clown car, the doors fall off and instead of trying to clear the ball, Nelson throws a bucket of brightly coloured paper over the keeper

I saw the goals at about 6ish last night and was still fuming going to bed!

I have to say that if I'd been at Southend there would have been more than one Pools fan sticking the V's up at the team!!

Surely we need to get the message across that's it's just not acceptable. Do the team think they are doing ok?!? sctatchinghead

aye but even if they'd just given a free kick we'd still have conceded the winning goal with some worse than school boy defending. i don't think we played that well on saturday. first half was gritty, good defending and weathering a storm. they had quite a few chances. the start of the second half was probably our best period but we went to pieces after conceding the first goal. the passing in the second half was p*ss poor and (albeit following the sending off) we brought foley on and kept playing long diagonal balls (!!) at his head, which surprisingly enough he struggled with. i left on saturday feeling annoyed with pools for throwing it away, rather than with the officials. southend were actually there to be beaten, a bit like northampton were.

My point is that the defending for Southends second goal was probably the worst I've ever seen. Fair enough then, if we'd had 11 on the pitch there would only have been 3 and not 4 unmarked Southend players left to score the goal..... stpid

True.

It's fkin annoying.

But the refs and the FA still haven't gotten over Houchen's repeated slagging of them years ago and are still getting their own back on us.
