I'll only be content if they didn't finish top - or, preferably, in the automatic promotion zone - had they not had 15 points deducted. clappp

I have no problem with Leeds now that bong eyed little shite hawk has gone to Newcastle, Dennis Wise is a 'lovely lovely person'.

Mr Whiteheat what has gone wrong? My theory is you simply used up all of your luck in the first half of the season in terms of last minute goals and gaining points without playing at all well (like against us twice for example).

All kinds of things pjpoolie. Contrary to what some would have you believe we did play well on more than one occassion and we were worth our great start. Injustice was the driver I guess, big crowds, fear from many oppostion teams at ER helped but just a massive will to win I think.

For me Poyet leaving was critical - together there was balance. With Bassett - who should never have set foot inside ER - there were two similar blokes in charge.

Season went belly up at Carlisle - Poyet had just walked (I think Wise felt cheated by his mate by the way) and we played 45 minutes of our very best football. Second half Carlisle changed it, they blew us away and Wise had no response. Since then confidence has drained from the team and Wise. Other blows include long term injury to Dougie and missed games for Casper - I doubt our deputy keeper has been on the winning side. He is a disaster. And so it goes on.

Those of us with a brain in our head never got carried away - we were just pleased to put relegation behind us - that's cos we are arrogant/dirty/know less about football than your average mollusc etc.

Problem now is too many changes to the team/squad/management and CONFIDENCE. We ain't got none which leaves Mac with a hell of a job on his hands. That said a good manager would get us promoted if you look at our squad.

Bit long winded but that's what LUFC luv ins are all about

I see thommo did the business for you - I did say he is the best dead ball specialist in this or any league. Mac may bring him home though :sweeeet:

And yes I know we still need points to aviod the drop which given the -15 is a result. Would you have survived from -15 for instance rolfl

We wouldn't have survived a 15 point deduction in a million years, but we never play the victim, unlike the good folk down at Elland Road

I don't get this. I can understand people disliking, even hating, Newcastle's arrogant dwarf. I can understand people being pissed off with all the arrogance on the likes of the 606 board. I don't understand however why people feel the need to do it on here. Without any exception I remember, all the Leeds fans who have been on here have been perfectly reasonable, sensible and respectful.

Like the man said, they sent us Thompson (admittedly to get him fit) who has made a real difference.

I don't like them or dislike them .They are just another team in our division this season, although they are obviously a big club and it is unusual for a club like Pools to be playing a team like them in a league match, ditto Forest and quite recently Sheff Wed.
It's Brighton I hold a grudge against in this division.

And we are now officially a very nice club - Mac in charge and Stan as deputy. How could anybody dislike a club with such well respected stalwarts of the game in charge. I believe both have normal eyes and are of average height. therethere

I don't want Leeds to go up this season.

Nowt against them personally, it's just that I enjoyed our games home and away against them and I'm hoping that we'll still be in this division next season too.

The more Northern teams that there are in our division the better as far as I'm concerned.

agree with that, if Donny and Leeds went up with Swansea, then say Hereford, MK, Wycombe and Peterborough came up, and Colchester came down, we'd be overrun with 400 -500 mile round-trips again next season!!!!
On the plus side a few southern teams might get relegated from League One this season.

It seems like only yesterday that you were dreaming of promotion yourselves. With your 'more goals scored than anyone except Leeds at home' record is a play off place really out of the question sctatchinghead

With our defence as weak as Dibble's will power in resisting pies, kebabs and other tuck then it really is out of the question unfortunately.

Leeds have dropped so many points that if they were given back their 15 points that were deducted at the start of the season they still wouldn't be top of League 1

Check the record books talbot I think you'll be surprised - the comparison is Revie 'v' Shankly. Revie the better manager - Shankly the better self publicist. Scousers took off as we, in keeping with our tradition, chose the wrong replacement(s) for Sir Don and they chose Paisley violin

Don't be daft, Dibbs. It's perfectly possible to dislike Leeds without it being "little club syndrome". If our fans had a problem with clubs being bigger than Pools we'd be too bitter to live. Suggesting that it is Leeds United's stature that leads to dislike makes you sound exactly like some of the more ignorant Leeds fans we encounter.

Part of the problem was Revie then went and tried to apply club management to England, then left for big money in the Middle East - his achievements (and hence those of Leeds) have been left tarnished in many memories, though I will agree its got nowt to do with Leeds....

One thing about the succession though - didn't Shankly suggest Paisley, as part of the Liverpool Boot Room that got talked about so much? OK Revie left rather than retired, but he hadn't been grooming a replacement and that didn't help. Shankly built a dynasty cast in his own image, the nearest thing to a dynasty from Revie was the fact that Jack Charlton went on to be a very good manager....

Albatross - Revie did groom and recommend a replacement. His name was Johnny Giles the greatest ever LUFC player (in my lifetime - obviously the Gentle Giant was the best ever). The board being cussed yorkies didn't like been dictated to so chose Clough. Giles toddled off to the Baggies where he built the side from which Atkinson built his undeserved reputation as a top manager. He wasn't, Giles probably was although he had quickly had enough of Directors and toddled off again, this time to his homeland where he bought into a club to avoid accountability to Butchers/Greencrocers/Tailors and the like. We were but one appointment away from creating a boot room of our own. That said there are rumours that king Billy was jealous and wanted the job over Giles which spooked the board. Dare say we'll never know. Revie got England wrong (hasn't everybody apart from Ramsey) and walked before he was pushed since when the media and opposition fans have had a feeding frenzy.

Better than Craig Midgeley keeping possession in the corner for five continuous minutes at Blackpool circa 2000?

Doubt it!

Was Revie the manager when Leeds produced the greatest bit of football ever seen?

That performance on Match of the Day against Southampton.

That spell of keep ball was the best bit of football ever.

It was Revie and it wasn't the only time that season that we Ole'd a team to death - we also did the same to the mancs. The Southampton footage is readily available on youtube clappp

Funny, despite it all I will still pay £410 next season to watch what is by comparison 'pound shop' football.

Apologies salty - for some reason I attributed this ". . . . old enough to remember Leeds in their hayday and may i say there was no better team in the land my dear late dad while watching MOTD always used to say watch this son this is how football should be played. " to your good self for some reason. No harm done though - shrewd judgment like this can only enhance your already iconic reputation. For my part I can do no more than blame the drink :uhoh:

I think you're confusing us with players/management at wednesday/everton and gooners. You can expect to recieve my writ in the post. Careless talk like this is as unnecessary as a 15 point penalty. Let's see your proof.

Not around in 91 - shame. Last team to win the top flight without buying it. It's just one record after another at ER.
