In a comfortable 4-0 win I named Sam Collins my man of the match a couple of minutes before the announcement came over the tannoy that the sponsors had also chosen him.

His performance was assured, confident and impeccable for the full 90 minutes. How often does a central defender take the MOTM in such a high win?

He's what we've lacked in defence all season, a snip at 75k, well done Danny Wilson.

I was a bit worried by the fact we only had two recognised defenders on the pitch at the start of the game, but we had too much going forward for a poor Luton side.

He was so calm and in control for the full game played very well.

He looked absolute quality and did you see how Nelsons game picked up as the game went on, he responded to the lad. A great signing on first impressions.

Thompson after the first twenty today was also absolute quality, every time he got the ball something happened.

Both brought in during the transfer window by the way...

It would be nice to keep Thompson but I doubt it will happen bearing Leeds current form in mind.

Collins first mistake today came after about 70 minutes, when he sliced a ball out of play on the right, when he had time to play it forward. Apart from that I can't remember him putting a foot wrong all day. Superb start, and helped bring the best out of Nelse.

Got to be one of the best debuts for a while.

I liked the way he attacked every ball, not letting it bounce unlike Antwi, his reading of the game was excellent, I think that his long throws will also become a great asset in time, maybe he is the new James Sharp :uhoh: . He missed nothing in the air and I bet that Furlong doesn't normally lose out to as many high balls as he did today.

For the record I also named him the man of the match before the announcement came over the tannoy

agreed, he was exactly what we've been missing. and he came into the lounge with his family and kids, unlike some of the damned bounders.

I was wondering about Antwi. With him not being in the 16, I was half expecting to hear he was on the way back to Anfield.

Antwi was stood at the tunnel after the match and he congratulated every single one of the players who were involved, what ever people have said about the lad you cannot question his attitude.

Sweeney is also worth a mention, excellent again at right back.

Barkers performance was like it is most weeks his is a consistent steady pro, it takes a couple of goals and three point for people to appreciate him!

I like him, he's got everything going to make me like him.

He's a big no nonsense lad with a good long throw.

VERY VERY good performance, if he can do that every week, he will be a major asset to the team

How has no one mentioned Foley??? He was a class act!!!!
It was 1-0 when he came on and he never stopped running at the defence, he set 1 up, had a part in the other and won "that" freekick!
But for me Barker was MOtTM, because he is so profesional, n his 2 goals just proved it.
I was very impressed with Collins as well, what a throw!!!! Hes solid strong and confident. Nelson compliments him well.
But still, everyone was great today n a great result!!!

dunno there was some players who were shite today...

none in a blue and white shirt mind

collins played very well indeed. but lets not carried away. luton played with one up front all game, even after they went behind. i have never seen a side so lacking in ambition.

they are comfortably the worst team i have seen us play against in a long time. on that showing they are doomed and i would be suprised if they won again all season. indeed without investment you can see them doing a rushden and going all the way to the conference.

their defending was awful and they were content to foul anyone with pace. i lost count of the number of free kicks porter won.

that said you can only beat whats in front of you and pools did it comfortably. the same sort of performance against port vale and we can all sleep sounder in our beds.

I'm not getting 'carried away' but Collins managed to do what no other centre half, including the lovely Bennie Clariewarkie, and head a ball and not fanny around waiting for the bounce

Perhaps Neslon might take his finger out of his arse now and start to do what he is paid for, just a thought like......
