Starting to get on my nerves with his ear to the hand celebration against Southend, then spouts off in the mail about ''i play for the manager not the fans'' this carthorse has got a massive chip on his shoulder and can't take the criticism. Top scorer or not you cannot disrespect the fans in this way and expect to be free from criticism when you are not performing at your job wich you are well paid for.

To be fair, the bloke is given a lot of disrespect by a lot of fans. I wouldn't have cupped my ear at them personally. I'd have bared my arse at the chunts :sweeeet:

So you would have beared your arse at the 'chunts' you are a not a pools fan then ?

To be fair if he is playing for the manager and he does that when he scores then he has no respect for the fans or the team.
And if he is getting respect from DW for that behaviour thn both of them deserve every piece of shiite they get thrown at them

Barks is not showing disrespect at all he is just being honest.... and saying it as it is. He wants to play and will play to keep the person who picks him happy... that way he gets to play.... that is easy to understand is it not.

If you where his manager and wanted him to play your way then what he is saying is that he would play your way. If your manager, boss or whoever is in charge of you don't you do what you are asked to do?

If my Editor says that I have to go to court and photograph someone as they come out then that is what I have to do. no questions asked.

Any player who has or is getting stick will put their hand to their ear to say to those fans... I cant hear you shouting at me now... To be honest when he scored I COULD NOT HEAR ANYONE HAVING A GO AT HIM NEITHER... COULD YOU.

This has nothing to do with the manager at all. But he is using the manager to have another go at the people who pay his wages. What about keeping the people who pay his wages happy ? banghead For me Barker and a few other players are not happy with getting stick from fans when they underpeform and are suing this to create a ''us and them'' situation.

Im going to be honest i missed the goal.
But he still shouldnt react to his own team's fans.
He scored.
So therefore he has silenced his critics.
No need to get their backs up

Yes Frank, but if at the same time you had a go at the Defence Lawyers for having the gall to claim the defendant was innocent you wouldn't be there for long....

I think there's general agreement that it's not a lack of effort or interest from Barker - the frustration is with Wilson who seems determined to pick him even if it means a relegation battle. However if he is felt to be having a go at the fans (and by the way if you're reading this Richie, the fans are the actual customers and whole reason that there is a professional sport that you've earned a living in for the last x years) then it won't be long before the fans will start giving it back in earnest and that can be enough to finish a player's career at Pools - ask Andy Toman, Peter Billing, David Rush....

In response to the late on remark i made.
I am a youngun!!!
And my support is probably blocked by the recent success.
But that doesnt mean I have no right to voice on him.
We are a better team without him.
We have proved that this season.

I will give credit were due.
He is good at what he does and holds the ball up well.
But we are a better team playing it on the floor.

And we'll still be here long after Barker, Wilson and IOR, won't we? sctatchinghead

I didn't see Barker do that but if he did, IMO, he's out of order.

Joel Porter,James Brown & Richie Humphries couldnt do it last season though could they.
Barker is the only one in that team on Tuesday that I had any confidence in when the penalty was given. He gives us everything he has got for 90 minutes every time,he doesnt pick the team or the tactics,he just goes out & plays. No way does he deserve all the stick he has been getting.

On rough figures; turnstile revenue equates to about £75'000 a player.

this is a similar discussion i had with daly's misses when she said the same thing,
yes maybe the revenue from gates aint enough, most comes from advertising, sponsorship, corporate ect....

BUT, how much of that could be generated if the gates were 1500 every week, who would the advertisers be advertising to?
and if gates were not important why do clubs go on on about low gates when they happen, also what about the league rules regarding gates against wage bills..........

if the fan gates arnt important lock the bloody gates and have it invitation only........

Exactly. I'd like to see how many clubs would survive if there was a situation where all fans stopped turning up. Fans are the life blood of a club and without them football might survive but it wouldn't be the same.

Personally i've never given barker stick loud enough for him to hear but he should not doing that to the fans, he should also not be saying he is playing for the manager and not the fans, thats shocking, what are we there for then, just to make up the numbers sctatchinghead
All footballers take stick sometime in their career from sunday league to premiership, he should know that he's been around long enough.

Love Barks or hate Barks he never hides when he plays and to single him out is beyond me if that ball is put in the box on a regular bases during the 90 minutes Barks will score.
My concern is the defence shocking.

That Sir, after the performance on Tuesday was a stupid thing to say. When we score four and concede three if you were beasting the defence I'd probably agree.

But all this bollocks about only scoring penalties, which is part of a strikers job, and having a hand in two more, is just cack. More than that, it's the silliest cack since silly cack went on the market under the brand name Gravedisordersillycack.

Antwi gave two goals away, why don't you boot him all over??

I'll tell you why, because it's fashionable to pick on Barker, who, with no allegiance to the club a year ago, has sweated blood on the Vic and fields afar. Was he terrible at Stockport last season?? No, he won the game single handed, with minimal assistance from Ritchie Humphries, another erstwhile target for you lumpy gets. Whereas those who have castigated him have given no more than wind and piss.

So shurrup.

Incidentally in a year, Mr R Barker has scored 23 goals for Pools. Obviously including penalties like...

Name me four other players who have ever done that and then tell me you didn't get Mad John to assist. stpid stpid stpid

i can't believe all you delicate flowers are offended by what barker did sctatchinghead what's up, you can dish it out but not take it stpid there was nothing offensive in his gesture whatsoever. i interpreted it as perhaps a bit of a tongue in cheek response to some of the slavver he's been getting. i've criticised his inclusion, but not his effort, or on tuesday, his excellent contribution.

shows he listens to the crowd, and perhaps feels the criticism of him is a bit unfair. i'd be quite happy if he did that celebration another dozen times this season, penalties or not rolf

On the message boards Barker has had it more than anyone though chip. For example Sweeney did the same thing when he scored on Tuesday and that's hardly been mentioned, I suspect in that case though he'd just found out were Jonny on spot was in the ground

I think everything that needs to be said on the subject has been about twelve times.

i missed two this morning, you dont do it on purpose but when your job is to take chances then you have to hold your hand up.

barker is a very highly paid professional footballer and whatever anyone says the best part of a grand that i will spend on pools this season goes towards his wages. to suggest otherwise is daft.

as for suggesting that barker has been singled out for criticism this season...thats plain daft.

jan budz has been hammered on here all season, including when he has been man of the match.

danny coles got a lot of abuse in his short time at the club, and nolan was starting to get it too.

nelson, antwi and boland have been slated at various times this season, and matty robson has had it for years. joel porter has been accused by several posters on here of not being interested and not trying and thats about as unpleasant an accusation as you can level at a player.

david foley...yep he has had plaeny of abuse too.

in fact almost the entire first team squad has been criticised at some point. that's what happens, especially, when your team is losing more than its winning.

barker has had some stinkers this season. he should accept that and blame himself not the fans.

don't think he was blaming the fans chip. just think he was dishing a bit back. didn't offend me like it did some of the delicate flowers on here like.

was he giving a bit back tho?

Barker says he plays for the manager....he has to...maybe he would rather come on as a super sub like solskar for manure...score a couple be a fans fav......he might know he aint got the legs but the manager insists he plays the 90.....
the bit in the mail may have been a cloaked explanation.....to the fans....

many on here have said thats the role they would want him to play........

discuss....

I wasn't there on Tuesday. I had to work late, I am surprised that Sweeney broke the habit of a lifetime though and actaually touched the ball during a game... :uhoh:

On Richie Barker, Danny Wilson should use him more sparingly, Barker is a very good player but he shouldn't be the first name on the team sheet like he appears to be....
