The thing with Pools is...

They tend to use spin.

Must be to get cash for someone and to be fair I wont miss any of them players may be sweens.

If Moore wants to leave, and Sweeney has turned a contract down, then it makes sense to put them on the list.

The chances are that Sweeney has turned a contract down cos he's pissed with the dwarf picking old man Boland in front of him.

It's not as bad as it sounds.
Gibb & Bullock are Shite anyway and would not want them to play for us anyway.
Moore if he's finding it hard to settle and commute from Warrington so be it.
Runs for 90mins every game but not a very prolific goal scorer.

I would be very sad to see him go but if he is not commited to the club then GO........

I take it that Sweens has more than 6 months on his contract. If not then what's the chances of someone paying a transfer fee for him when he can sign a pre-contract agreement and move for nothing come July.

Well it did say they where after duffy but needed more cash.

Spot on Ripper at home how can Wilson play Boland before Sweeney we are defensive from the off.

I think I'd be more disappointed if Sweeney left than Moore. Don't get me wrong I like Moore, he's done a canny job since he got here, he has got better as the season has gone on.

But I've not got attached to him, if he's not settling then he's done well to turn in the performances that he has done. Seems like an honest lad so I wish him all the best, until he lines up against us that is.

Sweeney still has talent and potential, wonder if he could play wide right?

The other two, their days have been numbered for a while.

We need to improve the quality of the squad - I don't think we would miss any of these four.

Its a shame about Sweeney but I'm not bothered about the other 3

Well Ronnie Moore is boss at Tranmere, and he's got a son call Ian who players League One football for a club in the North East of England.

the only one of those four I'm probably really disappointed with being put on the list is Sweeney, on his day he's a cracking player - but obviously hasn't been consistent under Wilson and so the club is probably thinking it's best to get a fee for a player who may be released in the Summer anyway.
If Moore's heart is not in it, then the club is right to put him on the list. If it gets him plus Gibb and Bullock off the wage bill (and I'd imagine they won't be on peanuts), then it would give us some scope to bring in one or two of the players hopefully identified as the ones to turn around the team's fortunes in the long run.
I'd like to have seen Sweeney re-emerge as the player he was in our first two seasons in this league 03/04 and 04/05, but it doesn't now look like it will happen.

What puzzles me is why put them on the list now?

There's only 8 days left of the transfer window so I can't see us shifting all 4 players before then.

I'm wondering if Notts Co and Bradford haven't got the finance to sign Bullock and Gibb, and so Pools are looking to offload to the first takers, and making it known that they are available. If that's not the case, then Pools are rightly putting the pressure on Notts and Bradford to pull their fingers out and do a deal now.
As for Moore and Sweeney, I have a feeling something is already lined up transfer-wise.
The problem is that if these players don't move on, and Gibb and Bullock return to Pools, then the deals for any new faces we are looking at, might not materialise.
I think it's a blessing we don't have a game on Saturday, so that the manager can focus more on tying up any deals in mind.

Yet again proof that some are just going to criticise everything that Wilson does from now on, if Moore hasn't settled he obviously wants away why keep a player who doesn't want to be here for the sake of it

I didn't see Cooper's head being called for during the Jack Ross scenario or people suggesting that he quite liked Houghton-le-Spring and the real reason he wanted to go is because he didn't like the manager!

Sweeney is a different one, he for me is going backwards is a player or at least not going forwards I think he probably needs a change for his own career if he isn't going to get an extended run in the team. Sadly all I believe it would take for the lad to get back his form is a run in the team. I wouldn't be surprised if he was frustrated and wanted away new contract offer or not.

Ali G and Sandra have been surplus to requirements all season.

As far as Sweens goes, I can smell Stevo in that deal. Stevo brought him through the youth ranks and rates him. He's almost out of contract.

He's never bettered 2005.

Gibb and Bullock have never been more than bit part players. Ian Moore, well I rate him but I used to travel 72 miles day to work and back, Warringtons a shedload further than that and I'd tire of it too. He probably wants to join his Dad at Tranmere. We'll probably get a fee.

near 300 mile round trip to Durham from Warrington, hardly a surprise he's not happy with the journey.

I wish Moore well, I think he's a cracking player who with a different partner really could have flourished, I think he'll do well for another league 1 side.

However I have to admit I'm baffled as to why we sign players and let them live so far away, unless he has a place here as well.

Saying that I think Wilsons still living in Chesterfield at the moment, wouldn't fancy that commute every day.

Sweenys' best days were as the legs of Tinkler. Once Tinkler lost his place in the team, Sweenys' star started to wane....he was Tinklers fetcher and carrier and the partnership was mutually beneficial at the time.

First of all Lee Bullock should not have been offfered a contract in the summer, i have heard he is a good lad to have around for team spirit a but as a footballer things haven't happened for him here.

Ali Gibb has been rubbish, crap signing, it is just a shame that it has taken so long for the management at Pools to realise this.

ian Moore has had his ups and downs but he is replaceable...

Sweeney is garbage, he hasn't had a decent game for a long time, although i wasn't there last night. He was 'allegedly' telling people over xmas that he was leaving in the summer anyway. Apparently Bradford, Darlo and Donny are interested and could treble his wages.... he is no where near as good as Boland but he could do a job for someone in the blue sq premier. Snowy has Sweens spot on, since Antony had that injury he doesn't cover the ground any more and he offers very little.....

Butler was one of the biggest factors in us getting relegated under Scotty.

Apparently he was the biggest disruptive influence in the dressing room for a long time.

He left under a cloud but he's still a cracking player. Besides, it's hard not to be disruptive if Scott's in charge, considering Ben Clark had him against the wall

Yes we got a few entertaining games when he was here but let's not get carried away. There were a few thrillers but it's not like game after game went down into the annals as masterpieces of vibrant entertainment is it. No one accused us of being entertaining in the whole of the first half of the play-off final season when we were grinding out sometimes undeserved wins at home and achieving 100% failure away.

On the other hand this season so far we've hit 4 goals or better 5 times and 3 goals or better 8 times. (Never mind if some have been against weak opposition: we play teams lower than us every season without having that kind of return.)

Wanting to return to Scotland was certainly the reason J Ross gave, wasn't it. Tho he might always have disliked the manager as well!
But that's an interesting point.....there was certainly evidence at the time that Cooper was a bit of a bully. Supporters all thought he was great but I'd be surprised if the team did. I remember Nick Loughlin reporting that the team emerged from their half-time talks white as sheets. And I remember when Wilson first arrived Michael Barron saying that it was good to have someone who discussed things rationally instead of bellowing (or words to that effect). He can only have been referring to Cooper??
