Defence...

"There were a lot of disabled bays so I just parked up. I left work sick and thought I would take the sample in before I had to pick Codie up from nursery.

"I have damaged ligaments in my leg from a fall last month so I went in as fast as I could. I must have been two minutes. When I came out they were just finishing clamping my car.

"I asked them to write me a ticket and take the clamp off so I could pay it later but they wouldn't. This has left me complet
ely depressed. I just think it is ridiculous."

Prosecution...

"Being disabled has enough obstacles and challenges without the misuse of bays by able-bodied drivers.

"Recent research shows that at least a third of designated disabled bays are used by people not entitled to park there.

"We are committed to eradicating this inherent use of disabled bays and that is why the bays are actively monitored and penalties applied.
"We will continue to hunt able-bodied motorists who carry out this despicable action."

I was waiting for our lass in Tesco's yesterday afternoon and saw a rather well dressed bloke pull into the mother and child bay...he was in his early 60's and all by himself...he got out, looked around...got back in undid the handbrake and positioned it perfectly... ...as he turned to walk away I shouted to attract his attention, he looked and I pointed out he'd left the kid unattended in the car... he must have had imaginary twins as he put two fingers up to enlighten me..... I opened the car door to thank him for being so kind and for some reason he ran for the shop. sctatchinghead ......
Do you think that people who 'park' in these bay are lazy, ignorant or just such poor drivers, they need the extra space to manage to park..?

I'm all against the abuse of disabled parking spaces but I wish people could be a more intelligent about them. I once accompanied someone whose leg had just been put in plaster to the station, so when I got there I parked in a disabled bay with a completely clear conscience. I'd arranged in advance for a porter to wheel the stricken woman to the train, so I left her to go and get the assistant and out he came with the wheelchair.
When we got back there was an almighty argument going on about nicking a disabled place.
Honestly, do you really need a fookin badge to prove your pot leg is not just a ruse for parking as close as possible to the platform? Is the notion of temporarily disabled beyond some people?
The car park was supposed to be free for disabled and cost x euros for normal drivers. Did I pay? You bet your sweet life I didn't.

i'm all for twatting people with fines for nicking disabled or parents with children bays. plain arrogance and ignorance what i'd come down on even harder is thos koonts who park right outside of tesco on the pick-up bays to go to the cash-point, or worse, leave the kunting car there while they do their kunting shopping. KOONTS rage

I'm still baffled as to why they do it..... I've seen them drive into a disabled bay when a ordinary bay only entails walking six feet further sctatchinghead ....and don't forget those who pull into the parent and child bay and get their 7 year old and 10 year old out....

I once had an arguement in Sainsburys when I'd parked in a parent and child bay. I parked up, nipped in for a few bits and bobs then back to the car. When accosted by an officious parking wallah telling me this was only for use by parents and their child I said, "you see that bloke in the car? Yes said wannabe Hitler, well thats me Dad. You don't specify any age.

I had to goto Darlington Memorial hospital today for an eye check on my youngun, the parking there is absolutely attrocious to start with and there was no spaces again this morning. After riding around the 3 car parks and local streets for 15 minutes i finally found a space in the car park.

Paid my £1.50 for 2 hours parking then on the way into the hospital there was 3 to 4 seperate people sitting in cars parked without tickets on. So wheres the car park attendants banghead if i hadnt fecking paid the parking fee its a 100% guarantee i'd of got a clamp. B@STADS rage

Parking in disabled bays when you don't need them is just plain wrong and people who do it deserve all they get.

I still don't see the point in these parent and child thingys though, I reckon they should be scrapped.

I can see a logic to parent and baby/toddler bays but not parent and child.

No.

I can't.

Get rid of them- it saves arguing over who should or shouldn't be allowed to use them.

But then police the disabled spaces better.

And also the arseholes who abandon their cars willy nilly in Tesco car park. When the accident that is waiting to happen finally occurs the HSE will nail them for the way they manage (or fail to manage) that car park.

I can see why we need the Parent and baby bays. Ripper has you have not got kids (Yet!!!) that's why you cant

When you have a young baby the idea is to have enough space to open your car door wide to get the baby and car seat out easily.
Normal bays you are lucky to be able to get out yourself.

I also agree any one who is to lazy to park in the correct bays should be fined & clamped. blastt
