Quote:
Capello's goalkeeper at Juventus, Gianluigi Buffon, called him a "dictator" and Licari added: "For sure, he is strong. It
is not as if a player can say 'I will do what I want' as there will be a fight."

Quote:
The game against Barcelona is not an example match," Licari explained. "Capello is defensive-minded." And if that leads to criticism, Capello is unlikely to care. He is notorious for his lack of patience with the media.

Quote:
He is a tough guy, very straight, very dedicated. It has been quite a while since I was working with him in Madrid. He has much more experience now than he did 10 years ago. Then he was already one of the best coaches I have ever had.

Quote:
The party may be over for some of England's squad if Capello comes to town.

It is unlikely we will see Capello coming over all misty-eyed and star-struck, referring to "JT", "Stevie G" and "Becks", as McClaren did with such sycophantic regularity. No fools will be suffered. No prisoners will be taken. And Amen to that.

Ruud van Nistelrooy described his training regime at Real Madrid as "brutal" - but added the vitally important rider that it made him fitter than he had been for years.

The guy also called Ronaldo fat, said to him "are you not embarrassed to be so over-weight" then sold him.

if you aspire to be the best, then there is no room for sentiment. It is a ruthless business these days, and so ruthless people are more likely to succeed.
Aime Jacquet removed the "stars" such as Cantona and Ginola at their peak, from the French national team - he was slated at the time and was told in no uncertain terms that they had no chance of being successful without such "stars".
4 years later they were world champions, and two years after that European champions.

some food for thought as well:

John Toshack was recently asked in a national paper, what he thought about the England National team's failures.

He has managed some 9 clubs, many of them in Europe. An ideal person to explain our woes?

He said, "England play a unique 4-4-2 formation as opposed to other nations in Europe. You play in rigid straight lines. You will often beat inferior teams but when you meet quality players, they will find it easy to thread the ball through your formation".

"There is nothing wrong with playing 4-4-2 but not like you do. Your player's technical skills, particularly your touch on the ball are far inferior. Therefore you give the ball away too often. Teams like Arsenal have players from any position comfortable on the ball, in any part of the pitch. The whole team can bring the ball under control instantly".

"Comendably, dads drive there kids miles to play in games. Unfortunately, the loudest cheers that you hear are for headed clearances by the centre half or a tough
tackle by a midfielder. Wouldn't those hours on the road, be better spent on the training ground, learning new technical skills"?

"Your team often return to a punt up to the centre forward for a knockdown to another player. You play for the second ball all the time, thus giving it away on too many occassions".

Finally, he believes that less and less Englishmen will play in the premier league because of the above.

He was always the best candidate - because of track record, because he is not a media junkie like 'the chosen one', but most of all because he loves art and has a huge personal collection. You just can't beat culture in a football manager

He's the boy for us. His name is an anagram of:

Boil Of Palace
Faecal Boil Op
Able Ciao Flop
Bail Cafe Pool
Bail Lace Poof
Fecal Pail Boo
Place Fail Boo
A Placebo If Lo

Whereas Steve McClaren was just an anagram of 'useless smoggie bounder.'
