If you listen in to Wilson's video on Pools World, he seems to have finally picked up on the messages on here. 'With Joel & Ian we cause different problems' with regard to richard 'I thought he needed a rest' & 'he looked very tired on Saturday' 'I thought we were getting bogged down in midfield and full back areas by taking one long option all the time, and in doing so getting quite predictable'

This is where comparisons with Scotty fall down isn't it. With Wilson we are still playing a fair few decent teams off the park. With Scotty we fairly soon realised we were never going to play ANY team off the park, not even non league sides.

I remember when last season Shrewsbury were beating us 3-0 at home and Wilson Out was getting sung. Then we went on to win the rest of our league games that month and Wilson was named Manager of the Month.

the team he picked last night was the team he HAD to pick, to give us the best chance of three points against a good side. It's obvious that a team like Tranmere are streets ahead of teams like Gillingham and Bournemouth, so to beat them DW had to change it.
We had attacking threats all over the pitch last night, and we had to do that against a team who aspire to playing in the Championship, and who we know will play good football. We kept them off the ball for the first 35 mins with great tackling and closing down, combined with good possession ourselves, and got a two goal lead which was vital.
The attitude we have to take going into games like this is, "ok, we know you're a good side and you will play like you believe you're going to outplay us and beat us, but we're going to play the same and see how you cope with us doing likewise."
Playing the type of game we had in some recent matches we would almost certainly have lost last night, I'm chuffed and relieved that we've shown we can recapture the form shown in some of our earlier games because I genuinely thought it had gone and wasn't coming back.

At the moment, I cant see us going down and I also cant see us going up, Or reaching the Playoffs, Said it at the beginning of the season I'd take what Carlisle did last season or anything similar to that, Just outside the playoffs come the end of the season! If thats the case I certainly wont be calling for Wilson out! Were inconsistent and at the moment were gonna finish where we are sat now - 12th!

Find consistency and we will finish just outside the Playoffs and maybe, Just maybe make them!M

The vast majority of teams do not collapse in a heap when a defender is off for a couple of minutes... They're supposed to be organised professionals, prepared for such eventualities. The team is all over the place and this far into his tenure, Wilson should have a squad drilled to perform in most eventualities.. it is not.
Danny boy is driving the bus, some of the passengers would like to kniow where we're going exactly as we're in first gear and have driven around the block a couple of times.

I'll start again .....now, if you are happy believing that accepting anything without question, ignoring various shortcomings and content in the belief that everything will turn out right if you just keep repeating the mantra that negative opinions are bad and should be eliminated.... well you just carry on then.

The whole point of a messageboard like this is that people voice their opinions, whether negative or positive. Otherwise there really isnt any point and we might as well all log onto the official site everyday instead. People disagree. You hear it on the terraces every match. We all think we know what the best team is.
Now I'm not one to start calling for a managers head early doors and I dont think Wilson should be fearing for his future right now. But some of his selections have been worrying and in my opinion (and most) plain wrong.
I reckon 90 percent of supporters would agree with 9 out of the 11 starting line up or something similar and thats probably quite unusual. To me, it just sums up our best side and the fact it seems rather obvious what that would be (ie Clark, Porter and Monkhouse all in, Barker dropped from the first eleven). But somehow Wilson has not seen or done this for the majority of the season. Of course having this conversation at this time is a tad unfair on Wilson as he did bring Clark back in, then Monkhouse and Porter, only to lose them to injury. However, to me he should have done this much earlier and we should be in a play off place given our squad and the talents we have.

His apparent need to tinker and re-arrange formations for no obvious reason have left me confused. HE MUST KNOW HIS BEST ELEVEN BY NOW...yet we still have this ludicrous situation where formational amnesia strikes and he starts all over again to jiggle the team around.

Antwi and there lad go off for stitches, there lad comes back within 2 minutes Antwi comes back after 10 minutes and 2 goals! now I realise you can only stitch one at a time but the time difference was huge, was it deliberate by the Yeovil medic ?
Danny did make a change to cover by moving Liddle back into defence but unfortunately Budtz refused to come off his line for 2 run of the mill crosses, if anyone can tell me that Budtz was not at fault for these goals well we might aswel all pack up.
Budtz made a brilliant save after 10 minutes to help keep our lead, but then messed it all up by refusing to leave his line YET AGAIN.
Nolan wasn't at his best and his short back pass for Yeovils 3rd was only seconds after Barker missed by a whisker with a header to equlaise.
Brown wasn't in it but he's earned an off day without stick.
Sweeneywasn't in it but what's new, though most people want him in, beats me

It was a header that Barker didn't reach properley that was going away from him at the back post, it was the same cross from Foley that Mackay just didn't reach.

Funny how we were brilliant away at Luton, Leeds, Orient, and Swansea, with the same Ritchie Barker that everyone now wants out because he doesn't suit our style of play

According to some in the chatroom today it is perfectly acceptable to concede 2 in 10 minutes when we are a man down....

I'm personally sick of all the excuses, i know we are in a far better league than Division Four but I still feel like we are under achieving. There seems to be a lack of organisation, concentration and general common sense at the back. Budtz is also making a lot of saves in recent weeks so it is not as if teams are getting chances and just being clinical, teams seem to be getting a shit load of chances and the defence urgently needs plugging......

the ease at which opponents are playing through the centre of our back four is startling. The central defence is a big problem, they are so shaky.
I believe that Nelson can't cut it at this level now, for whatever reason that may be. It just seems to be a harsh fact.
Either opposition strikers have gotten much better, or something has happened to him - either way he has been at the centre of a lot of our goals conceded this season. I've never seen opposition centre backs make as many mistakes/get done/lose out in the air/misjudge bouncing balls as may times as Nelson has for Pools this season. His passing was never the best, but now his defending isn't either, it's really starting to stand out.
If he doesn't shape up, then we'll have to look elsewhere for a replacement.

Gotta agree with this. The problem with Rivals was that you were not permitted to criticise the players/manager/club. As soon as you did you got slated for it. It was for this reason I stopped using it and gladly swapped over to the bunker.These new people who have recently joined this forum (presumably from Rivals) are going to turn this board into another rivals, it is going that way already, i.e childish slagging matches because some people question the club and its players right now. These people will turn round at the end of the season when we are either relegated or survive by the skin of our teeth and say that it was the negativity and bad luck which caused us to have a bad season and not the players/manager.

gents,you seem to saying that the only valid opinion is one which takes a negative slant on DW and the present situation.
Looking at where we're at ,we have 24 points from 19 games and are 12th.I'd have probably taken that before the season.we are at a critical point though,the next 2 games are critical,both are games we can win and probably must win cos then we have the top 3 sides in the division and I can't see us getting anything from those games.
I'll still back DW up till that point but where we are at 5 o clock on new years day will make my mind up until then my glass is still half full.

The league table doesn't make too bad reading when taken in isolation.

It is the performances and tactics that have got me, and a few others I dare to say, quite pssed off this season.

Oh now I get the idea, don't criticise those loyal long standing supporters that I never seen at Gillingham, Swansea, Hereford or Yeovil, those that can't wait to criticise either manager or 'certain' players you know the ones those that give 110% every match like Humphs, Barker, Boland, Moore.
Those loyal long standing fans that didn't see the performances against Luton, Leeds, Swansea, Orient, and the fact we lost 3 out of 4 then we must have played badly, it's obvious isn't it.

Yes we've had some bad performances, Huddersfield especially, but most of the others there has been a fine line between winning and losing, unfortunately we have been on the wrong side of that line more often than anyone would like.

Most the other teams, barring leeds have had poor spells and still remain around play off spots, and we aren't out of it yet.

Remember thankfully we are a footballing side and not a route 1 team similar to Hereford, Yeovil, Gillingham, etc etc and we will always struggle against the more physical teams that play on tattie fields of pitches.

So Jock the monkey et al stop trying to deflect the criticism of these long standing loyal fans and keep quiet and let the doom and gloom mongers have there fun cos after all it's there team.
