Brace yourself for an onslaught from the rose tinted spec brigade. We are in the top half of the 1st division, things are great. Look where we were ten years ago etc!!

Sorry to contradict Chip, but Porter was on the bench, and at least showed some commitment when he came on

agree we need a loan signing to get us going, though this team is worth a try :

budz, mcunnie nelse clark humps monkhouse liddle boland foley porter brown on the understanding liddle is told to get forward more, with barker to come on if the game needs killing off, and mckay to come on if it needs chasing.

it wont ever happen of course.

You should be a football manager chip !! Obviously you know a bit more than DW !!

It's not hard to know a bit more than Wilson at the minute s it? Some of his decisions are woeful, surely you can see that....?

The only problem i have with Wilson is i Dont think he took tonight too serious and rested too many players when there was a clear chance to get to wembley. I am also disagreeing with some of his subs of late, hudds last week (monky and browny sctatchinghead ) then Boland tonight, he was running the midfield tonight sctatchinghead . But because we have been beat/drew tonight fans are talking in general about his managerial skills, oppose to one cup match that he hasnt took serious enough. His team when full of energy and not tired after playing 2 games in 3 days, is fine for me. Just some of them are letting us and him down at times.

But it's not just tonight is it? I haven't seen a good performance at the Vic since we hammered Doncaster 4-1. It's just not convincing, & I have given up all hope of being entertained (& after all that is why we go there)

Dagenham game ? FA Cup 1st round before the tamworth loss, the Dags game was when Tresor Kandol looked very good for them, we went through but the best team by far lost that day....?

Sorry forgot that one and yes we were bad but what throw me was way chip put it as I was thinking he meant some game this season. And got game wrong. So I have edited my previous post.

But wasn't that game under a different manager???????? I think it was!!!!!!!!!

So comparisions are irrelevant.

Thats why I was thrown.

So very very very very wrong.

We follow one half decent performance with half a dozen shocking ones.

Leyton Orient.

I don't expect Pools to be playing teams off the park, we're new to the division and will have to accept there are many teams who are better than us or just as good.

I'm surprised how alarmed people are about our inconsistency.

im not alarmed by our inconsistency, im simply puzzled by it. i cant fathom how we can play so well one week e.g. leeds and play so badly the next e.g. walsall.

i also cant fathom how players who were consistently good last season can be playing so poorly this season e.g nelson, liddle, monky.

ive come to the conclusion that perhaps the bristol city fans who labelled wilson a meddler, constantly tinkering with the team, might be right.

the constant changes in players, postitions and formation are really starting to get on my tits now. im finding myself sitting there thinking what in the name of god is he doing now ffs ?

im not sure if we are hanging onto a mid table berth thanks to wilson or despite him.

i dont think it helps when he sees no need to explain his thinking, and the club keeps misleading fans over injuries.

at the moment it wouldnt bother me if he fooked off and took his dull, robotic, jorneymen, workhorses with him.

which is a shame.

When has the club mislead fans over injuries, or I have missed something? sctatchinghead

So you agree with what I say then?

Did you really expect us to come back and be blitzing everyone out of site? You probably expected a midtable finish, which is exactly how we're playing.

I don't see relegation, this team and manager does not have the fatalism of the Scott era. I was convinced from late September onwards that we were going down that season. I do have faith in Wilson although some of his selections border on the wierd. I am convinced that hes insistant on proving that his signings have added to the squad and in a lot of cases they have but the splitting of the Nelson/Clark partnership was a debacle. Up front, although Barker has scored a lot of goals most have come from the spot or in the cup against nonentities. I like his workrate but we either need to play to the blokes strengths or use the speed and skill of the Porter/Brown combo.

I do wonder how much effect the MM thing has hungover, death of a close friend does not go away after a week and I wonder if theres still a bit of gloom pervading the place.

I see that we've happily stayed within the context of the thread title for once.

Don't you think that if DW shared his wisdom with us, opposing managers might save a bit on scouts??

There was more but I really don't fancy the can of worms it'll open.

mr tax, you go to most of the games, what do you think of the standard in this league ?

imho its not as good as i thought it would be. generally speaking, has it been better or worse than you were expecting ?

i thought we would finish mid-table.

that was on the basis that i thought this league would be very tough, but having seen most of the better sides i honestly think the standard isnt that great.

i thought i would be happy with being mid table, but im actually a bit dissappointed, because i think we have sufficent good players to be top 6.

For me, people forget what being mid-table is about and it seems worse than it is. We haven't been mid-table in the best part of the decade. Being mid-table means losing games when you're the better team, leaking soft goals, few clean sheets, missed opportunities, inconsistent performances and quite often not having a 20+ goal a season striker.

We do not have sufficient players to be top 6, get that out of your head now. I thought we did, but we really don't. We have problems in all 3 departments. If Wilson made some good signings then we could make top 6 but the current lot won't do it.
