Anyone notice that none of the latest crop of signings started yesterday (apart from the goalie obviously).
I believe this is the first time. In any case it shows Wilson can be pragmatic when he wants.

McCunnie was suspended, Moore had been out for three weeks, Humps is leaving Elliott on the bench through sheer form, Clark has played Antwi into the reserves since he took a knock and he can't play Barratt and Budzt in the same team.

Is that pragmatism or the mother of necessity?? sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

You can't say that the man who signed Boland and Monkhouse is a poor judge of player surely??

No. It's just that some people said Wilson was stubbornly playing his new signings just because they were his new signings. Yes one of them was suspended but that still left three other outfield players.
I think the only necessity guiding Wilson's choice was the necessity to play something like his best team.

Seems to have worked at any rate. It would seem that Jan Budzt kept us in it a few times by what I've read but he still doesn't seem to have everyone convinced.

Jan Budtz was one of best players for me along with Browny. His injury feigning is awful though, he rolls about far too much for a Scandanavian.

I would like to see Sweeney and Boland in the middle. Liddle is class but he has gone off the boil a bit recently.

Boland for me is a true holding midfielder. Liddle is quality but he has a different style to Boland.

With Boland's suspensions and fitness I reckon Sweeney will get much more of a look-in this season.

He's scored 4 goals in just over 300 career games, none for us.

i agree liddle has been below his best this season, but then his best is very very good.

if liddle has been below par this season then how about boland ? the games i have been to he has been very average.

sweeney has his critics, but he gives us something neither boland or liddle has this season; a goal threat.

Of the home games I've been to this season, I've thought Boland has been the better player than Liddle in just about all of them. Liddle has been well, well off the pace.
