I know we have a midweek league game prior to this Cup tie but who would advocate resting some player's againt Gainsborough,I not trying to be disrespectful to them but just perhaps we can rest some for a game without weakening to much, and hopefully still being to strong for them.

Possibly

Humphries for Elliott

Barker for Mackay

Antwi for Nelson

Those could be possibilities and I'm sure other's could think of more. Having them on bench to come on if necessary.

So my team

Budtz...McCunnie...Antwi...Clarke...Elliott...Brown...Sweeney...Liddle...Monkhouse...Porter...Mackay...Subs...Barrett...Humphries...Barker...Nelson...Moore...

I believe that Mackay is the man to play. He's ripped lower league teams to shreds before he came to us.

I believe that you are right Mr Gaunt, and Mr Bob, however I think Gainsborough will launch the ball at every opportunity and so I would put two fookin' big lampost centre halves in, probably Antwi and Elliot, and play McCunnie and Humphreys as wing backs as I would not expect Gainsborough to be too smart on the wings. Mr Bob you have a very attacking midfield there whereas I think front line trickery will marmalize them, so Porter and Mackay for me an' all but with Liddle dropping back as the third lamp-post and Sweeney charging forward.

It will however take us 70 mins to win the ice breaking penalty.

I think its a dangerous game resting players, it often comes back to bite you on the @rse. I would sooner play our best team perhaps with McKay up front and substitute a few key players should we get to half time with say, a 2 goal lead+.

Trinity's players should not be as fit as ours so our players should cope with the demands of the game pretty well without over exerting themselves.

I think the time to 'rest' players is after an hour of the game when you we have a 3-0 lead. I know we have a big squad but I wouldn't change the side. Fair enough in the paint pot cup but this is the FA Cup.

Make one or two changes, but keep it at that. Why disturb the team pattern and flow, for the spurious and over-rated gain from resting players. THEY'RE ALL IMPORTANT GAMES, EVEN THE MORECAMBE GAME...how many games away from Wembley? Anyway aren't they supposed to be professional athletes?....

Which of these do he have more chance of winning and getting a trip to Wembley ? banghead

If the fans start to treat this competition as an important one then maybe the players will too !!!!

Fair point, but the FA Cup is far more prestigious and the potential financial benefits of a good FA Cup far outweigh the paint pot.

I'm pretty sure the players ARE treating the competition seriously they have scored 8 goals in two away games in getting to this stage and on paper we are one of the best teams left in it. To get to the final would be marvelous and we have a real chance as we have a strong squad, but it is the competition to use your squad the FA Cup isn't.

I know where you're coming from but there could be huge finacial benefits in the Paint Pot too, a Wembley final brings an awful lot of money in no matter what competition

Aye but you're never best pleased, if you fell into a vat of John Smiths with chips floating on top and Holly Valance and Fan Bing Bing in there smothered in kebab fat and wanting licked clean, you'd still moan that you had to get out for a piss and some bread and butter.

She'd be more use if she had arms.

Although I suppose she'll find it harder to fight you off without them.

Interesting our poolie Kev.

Antwi is a great big strong lad but what I've seen is that he doesn't compete with attackers and win the ball. What he does is commit them and then wins the spill. He's right up against them, they jump and while they're in the air he's twisted away in possession.

Trouble happens when the ball needs clearing and he's being challenged, the ball it goes straight up in the air and every one's defending in the danger area again.

You have the measure of me our Frodraff, 'cos I've never seen him play. But, he's appears to be a big lanky bugger and even if he's skilful but half a yard slow, you'd think he'd have the measure of anyone who plays in the Unibond League or Conference North. If not, Liverpool have made a great mistake.
