Must be a good bet for a live game?

I'm sure the beeb has 2 games as doe sky which would mean, Leeds at Hereford, Swansea at Billericay, us and one other.

League v League. A terrible choice for a live 1st round FA Cup game, but you just know that will be one they'll pick.

They always pick a match where they know they'll get a guaranteed audience and they'll get 30k+ watching it in Leeds.

They also love Hereford because of that goal in 1826.

Unquestionably mate. But they shouldn't get a first round live game any more than, say, Darlington v Northampton. You have teams that have battled through a few rounds of qualifying and then landed a league team on their own patch. They are the games the tv bods should pick. The revenue from such a game could keep some clubs afloat. Leeds will get (more than) their share of coverage and Sky have already granted them a live game in Jan.

'The Whites' FA Cup 1st round match with Hereford United has been selected for TV coverage. The game has now been switched to Friday, November 9, kick-off 7.45pm and will be shown live on Sky TV'.

Fair point madjohn - unfortunately the food chain rules football. Really wish someone could do something about it but it looks unstoppable. No doubt Hereford will be pleased though. bbolt

Hereford have also been part of a staple diet of televised football over the years. For a club of its size, I'm willing to bet they feature more than other clubs of similar League stature.

Didn't we play them live on telly in a cup game a few years ago when they were non-league? sctatchinghead

And didn't they beat us?

With our TV record its probably just as well our game isn't televised.

We'll be happy for the cameras to show our quarter final game against Man U

I did however, manage to collect enough of said monies to cover my entrance fee! rolfl

I also seem to remember most of the pools players had, like, white chalky stuff in their hair........or did i imagine that? sctatchinghead

Ever since they beat Newcastle, Hereford have been the favourites of the broadcasters.....their archetypal no hopers.

Gainsborough get about 350 a match usually and the ground will hold maybe 2500. Its an old 'walk round' set up with an open end and a covered shed at the other end, a stand at one side and covered terracing at the other, Its about 20 steps deep at best and the open end is maybe 30 steps.

Decent supporters club like, under the stand with tellys and a decent range of beers at good prices.

I went for the Boxing Day derby with Worksop Town once and had a good day out.

The pitch is awful.

Oh, and wear your kevlar vest, there's a stabbing in Gainsborough every 20 minutes by a kid with an extra thumb.

Which is all of them.

Ever been round Gainsborough town centre? No? Have you got five minutes to spare?

The 200 metre walk from the car park to the shops for a 6' 4" bloke in broad daylight was a bit hairy now you mention it.
