who can/will admit Pools are struggling now? We ARE struggling, and I think we need some fresh blood.
Look at some of our best players -

Boland - we needed him to be a shining example today, I hope he gets fined two weeks wages after that petulance. I knew he was going off after that incident.I refused to clap him - pure stupidity.

Liddle - powder puff and ineffective for weeks. Replace him with Sweeney - Sweens can shoot, and score goals, and get into the opposition penalty box. Sort it out Liddle, what's wrong with you?

Porter - why can we not get two games the same from him? He is quality, but today he was not at the races.

Nelson - not the same player he CAN be. Can't put my finger on it. Is it because he needs Ben Clark alongside him on a regular basis?

Monkhouse - should have started today, but was brought on in a situation where we had 10 men and were one down. If DW thinks Monky's good enough to help sort that out as a sub, then he should have picked him from the start. This is bad management, because he's played McCunnie in midfield and excluded Monkhouse to accommodate the ineffective Coles.
How can you expect to get the best from Monkhouse in a situation like that? He would have provided another wide attacking option on the opposite side to Brown, who should have started on the right.

Brown - not his fault he was asked to play on the left where Monkhouse should have been. See above for team selection mistakes.

Clark - bad mistake for their goal, but he is still the most composed centre back at the club. Made out to be the escape goat (copyright the Bunker).

McCunnie - should be used at right back, whether he likes it or not.We are a better team with him there, he can cross the ball at least. A couple of occasions today where Coles attempted to cross it (abysmally), we may as well have had Micky Barron playing there.

The rest -
Budtz - awful communication, one thing about Dimi was his shouting, letting the back four know what is going on. If Budtz won't /can't shout or communicate, then he's no fu-cking use. Clark should have got a shout from him for that awful own goal, Dimi would have shouted the odds, that's for certain. No excuses for Clark in what he did, but it typified Budtz's lack of teamwork.

Coles- fu-cking hell, what does he bring? I hope he gets injured so he goes back to Hull never to be seen again. Awful signing. Crossing/passing non-existent. We are much weaker with him in the side. Get McCunnie back at right back and get the quality back in that position. Wilson, what are you thinking about?

Humphreys - not a left back, when will we sign one? Having said that, currently the best we have at that position. It shows what a panic signing Elliott was, for that alone I am beginning to question Wilson's judgement here.

Barker - needs dropping. Ineffective against League One defenders. Will become an impact player, as a sub, at best.

Mackay - never in with much of a sniff against their back four, apart from sliding in late on and almost stealing it for us.

Sweeney - needs games to get back into it. He has done the business at this level, Liddle has not. He should be in, regardless of whether Boland and Liddle are both available. He deserves a chance as the other two aren't doing the business.

There are a number of players this season who are trading on their reputations ..... that's the problem, some people just can't be arsed or are actually incapable of doing a job, or is there a lethargy about the squad for some reason other than the patently obvious one.

It's not January

Wilson and IOR do want relegation

I'm sure the squad will be strengthened.

I think this is a massive over-reaction to a bad performance with ten men, after a horrendous week against a bogey team who sneaked it at the death.

*had* we won yesterday, we would have been 4 points off the top with a game in hand going into November. That's a great start and no-one is struggling. Except Coles, who is sh*t.

yes I was boiling last night when I posted the original message, but a lot of it still reads as true for yesterday's performance.
We were vying for top spot a couple of weeks ago, now we're six points above the drop zone with two tough away fixtures coming up.
Where will we be in the table prior to our next home game?
I'm on holiday for the two away games, I hope we pick up one win at least, 'cos I think we're going to need it to avoid getting sucked down the other end of the table.
The upshot of my post is, the season is starting to shape up, and we are not good enough to finish anywhere near the top six right now. We have good players, but the squad needs adding to, in order to mould a side capable of beating the teams we have struggled against at home recently (we struggled like hell against Bristol Rovers, despite the win).
Swindon, Walsall, Bristol Rovers, Brighton have all come here and we have not been good at all.
Away form won't hold up in my opinion, we need to get it right soon, this is a very competitive league.

This season is about consolidation and rebuilding, i believe next season will see a different team i might be wrong but this is my thoughts. Like parmo has pointed out a few players living on reputations etc have already been given a shock by being dropped who would of thought it the un droppables dropped  . As long as we stay up which i believe we will then we can prepare for the next level.

Since Leyton we've looked lathargic in my eyes.

Our best player this season has been McCunnie and he's been on the bench or played in the centre of midfield when he should be right back or at least given a run of games in midfield.
