I didn't go to the game today,so I won't make any accusations about what happened, just that it's very unlike our players to be so unsporting.

However, some of the comments on here I think are a bit unfair. Firstly the celebration,Bas' normal celebration is the moonwalk and I don't think he meant any disrespect to you by doing it. From what I've heard it was on the half way line and not infront of the Pool bench so please correct me if I'm wrong.
Secondly,if anyone did run up to Barker at the end and say anything insulting not only does it disrespect you,it disrespects us. Richie Barker is a living legend for me,was the first Albion player I ever saw score for the Seagulls, a good 9/10 years ago now. Some people have said something about replicating Barkers celebration of kissing the armband which is once again totally uncalled for.

I hope you are all aware of just how respectful we fans are at Brighton and Hove Albion F.C and we wish you the best of luck for the rest of the season. I'm not sure if the banner was put up saying 'R.I.P Michael Maidens from BHAFC' but I was told it was to be left at the memorial outside the ground.

Oh and don't mind 1066 he's a cock.

your fans were exemplary before the game, no problems there.

that's savage's normal celebration, no problems there.

SOME of your players were a disgrace to your club, and football at this level in general.

brighton fans are best placed to make that obvious to them.

it was in front of the our bench. if it was in front of your fans no-one would have said anything but he did run half the length of the pitch to do it. more sensitivity could have been applied.

I'm not jumping to conclusions at all here - far from it. But from what I've heard our winger who got your player sent off by winding him up recieved a bit of aggro from your bench and maybe Savage wanted to get back at them?

Just a theory like

who was that number 8, what a total cocknocker of the highest order.

i thought whing was quality like the no2 but he was a bit of a prat at times, although he looked a lot better than most on the pitch.

I don't really think people are that upset about Savage's celebration, it is after all what he normally does, its a shame that he couldn't have curbed it for this particular occasion but I can understand that scoring a last minute winner is a fairly special thing to do so I'm happy to let it go.

This is more than can be said for Elphick who is an absolute disgrace and I hope that any reasonable Brighton fan who saw him do what he did would be thoroughly ashamed. I also have a feeling that the number 8 said something just after Boland was sent off as a number of players reacted (and it doesn't take a genius to work out what it was) but obviously I wasnt on the pitch and have no real proof.

I thought however that the Brighton fans and the coaching staff handled the occasion as best they could (e.g. Brighton bench telling Kuipers to stop getting involved with the town end) and have no real bad feeling towards the fans or the staff, just there SCUM players.

I'm sorry but that's a little unfair.

Yes,we all accept and understand what happened was utterly utterly tragic and before the game everyone paid their respects to Michael Maidens. However, a games a game and we were there to play it like any other. There is no way Bas would moonwalk infront of your bench to spite Maidens or his family. Maybe as someone said above it was at Wilson for not signing him but we,whether you think our players are scum or not, are not like that as a club.

Maybe so.
I dont think we can complain that much about the celebration but of the guy kissing his armband mocking barker... surely that is a reflection on the club which Brighton will not be happy with

Not that I doubt any of you are telling the truth, but I think the club will want opinions from some of our fans first when they return home.

If he did do it then I expect individual apologies will be written to
Hartlepool United F.C
Richie Barker
The Family of Michael Maidens

End of after that in my mind.

Once the whistle went it was a football match end of, and the feeling of scoring the winning goal in any game will bring a different emotion. Savage wouldnt of been thinking about our troubles but scoring the winning goal for his team.

Firstly Savage. I understand that he normally does it but he did run half the length of the pitch and did do it in front of the family stand and boxes, to which someone pointed out to me was where the Maidens family were most likely watching the game from. That's the bit that upset me about the celebration.

That's nothing compared to what Brighton's number 24 did and I hope he's ashamed of his actions.

Secondly, as I've said before...Brighton had a game plan to take advantage of our emotional players. They were running their mouths from the off, abusing our players and the match was bad tempered. Boland was provoked into his correct sending off. The way the Brighton players behaved was disgraceful.

The way the Brighton fans behaved was exceptional.

It doesn't represent us as a club though is the point I'm trying to get across, and I certainly don't want HUFC seeing us amoungst the dirtiest in the league as I can assure you our players are not.

Elphick has been fantastic this season and I generally think one of the best defenders in the league. This is his first proper senior year and I certainly can't say I'd even imagine in my wildest dreams him pulling off a stunt like this.
I've said time and time again how much of a legend Richie Barker is at our club and I'd be disgusted to find out any of our players had been ill mannered towards him,the thought of it makes me physically sick.

Now saying our club has no morales it completely ludicrous. It's been said our manager had a go at our keeper for getting involved with the Pool fans giving him stick behind the goal. Does that count for nothing?
If Elphick did it then I've already said what consequences I expect to be taken. I'd like to think we'd be grown up enough to share a beer (although I'm too young to drink I'll admit!) when you come to Withdean after that.

savages gesture was aimed at danny wilson surely, who you may recall turned down the chance to sign savage last season.

i didnt find anything disrespectful about it. the guy had come on as sub and scored a last minute winner.

what was out of order was brightons centre half running over to rithcie barker who was lying on the floor and goading him.

at the end of the day pools beat themselves, a point mr wilson makes very eloquently on pools world.

i thought he injured his leg badly and couldnt be signed..

I am certain Elphick will do whats right. He's young and didn't think when doing what he did.
