I don't reckon I'm old fashioned or owt right, but I've seen a few programmes (can't remember what like) over the last few weeks on telly where whole families are sat in front of the telly eating their tea off a tray. stpid

In the Ripper household we always sit at the dining room table for every meal and never thought that others didn't.

What about you lot on here?

Meals on your knee in the lounge or sat at the table properly?

PS. For the avoidance of doubt I reckon eating in the lounge is scruffy

Ripper what is wrong with sitting in the room eating your tea off a tray?? refyellow

I'm not scruffy or bad mannered but like having my tea on a tray in the front room...
We do sometimes have a proper tea at the table....

I suppose we can't all be as good mannered and posh as you stpid

Have to say I prefer the table thing but I've been known to have a tray in front of the TV too. I suppose I'm not scruffy but not quite as posh as you Mr R.

Got to be sat down at a table. I like to have a drink, sauces, gravy, and bread and stuff laid out. It's a ballache having that all round your feet.

I can still see the telly as well.

What is wrong is that you are sacrificing family communication and allowing TV to govern your lives. You have become institutionalised. That's all.

I always prefer to sit at the table. Either the dining room, or the one in the kitchen. However, I have been known to eat it on a tray on my lap. I don't consider myself to be common, but hey, I must be!!

Table. If its a sarnie or summat fair enough, but for dinner, evening meal, tea, whatever we're calling it, it's at the table and a discussion about your day. Nicest part of being a family.

Do people still have cold tea's on a sunday afternoon we had em as kids sandwiches on a plate, cakes, chocchie biscuits, ice cream or trifle.
I miss stuff like that, my nana still says get a tin of ham or salmon out the cupboard if visitors are coming clappp clappp .

As regards to the table debate we used to then we slipped back into our old routine of scoffing in front of the telly. Oh well theres worser things in life.

We have young kids, and therefore we have rules.
Meals are round the table; telly is banned at that time. In fact, telly is banned until after tea which is 3.30-4pm
The kids accept it. Its always been the same.
They eat loads.Their appetite is great and I dont reckon its a coincidence.
Our lass has always insisted upon it and she's right.
Meal times can be stressful sometimes but usually they're fun and full of good food.
Family time; always
