Road closed loads of police, two ambulances, the paramedic car, people everywhere, sounded like helicopter was coming in.

Bad last few days on the roads - what with my delays on m62 and a61 on thursday and everything else.

feel like parking the car up for a few days. confised

Mrs R went out at that time to walk and meet me at the No Rarfs Arms- I told her NOT to walk across the fields on her own but to go along Elwick Road.

Being a bird she did what she wanted and walked across the fields at the end of Valley Drive otherwise she'd have been there at pretty much exactly that time!

Unfortunately the biker was killed in the accident. Yet another death on the roads this weekend.

No mention of any wrongdoing on there or on the Mail website. There seems to be nothing to say other that the rider losing control of the bike and subsequently took out two pedestrians. I think we should maybe keep any here say or negative comments to ourselves. As far as I can see the only facts are that a lad not much older than Michael Maidens was killed in a RTA much like Michael Maidens.

I was told he clipped the kerb and lost control no one else was involved barring the 2 passers by.

The bike looks like its a Ducati Monster. Whilst not the most powerful bike in the world they are a bit flightly and wheelie prone. As a biker myself (Yamaha YZF-R1) I suspect that he's simply gone in too hot and lost it in the corner. There but for the grace of............ He was only 22 so probably quite inexperienced.

RIP young man.

My original comments where made when we thought it was as a result of a police chase. As the biker was an innocent guy then I am, of course, sorry that another tragic accident has claimed a young life.

Lesson learned not to judge until the facts are known.
