well took my daughter to bradford for a five hourinterview yesterday and couldnt believe what they offer as wages.
the reps are expected to work 6 days a week do any amount of unpaid overtime if for example the plane is late and they have to wait for it and all this for the princely sum of
300 pounds a month or 72 pounds a week
now how the hell do they get away with paying them that i thought we had a minimum wage.
and they said dont give a shit about the punters just sell them all the trips/excursions you can and we will pay you a pittance in comission to boost your wages.
thieving bastads

I know people who've worked as holiday reps in the past, and the wages are awful but they do include digs and the folk I know reckon it was really really hard work but really really good fun too. But they did also say that there were a few who didn't stick it out cos of the hard work aspect and the extremely long hours so she wants to go into it with her eyes open!

yes it includes digs but not food so out of their tenner a day they have to "live" ie food and drink as well as buy toiletries etc i dont think she is going to accept their "generous" offer as she has interviews coming up with thomsons, first choice and thomas cook all of which are year round companies rather than 18-30's six month season.
mind i will be making her ring and ask wages before i give up a day taking her to liverpool then another to take her to manchester havent these holiday companies heard of the bloody north east rage

As daft as it sounds, I dont think most of the reps really care too much about the money, Its the fun and experience they get out of the job!

But they only really get time to spend owt on their days off (working about 16 hours a day 6 days a week) so it can go further than you think.

Besides which, I'm sure a nice young holiday rep will have plenty of letchy old blokes buying her drinks for her... bbolt

Hoy you, Mr Bus's daughter is a proper brought up lass. Besides, there's not a father around who wants to think of someone taking advantage of their daughter. Lets no go there!

I worked in Malia in Crete for two summer seasons - not as a rep but as anything, selling sunbeds, making and selling jewellry on the beach, washing up, assistant chef, fish-gutting, touting for customers outside a restaurant. I made fuck all money but it was tremendous. I'd recommend getting a job before you go mind, cos I didnt and I had nothing for a couple of weeks and had to beg for my first job and work a couple of days for no money, just food.
I also worked two winters in the Golan Heights for fuck all money - and that was the best experience of my life.
Good luck to her. She'll work hard if she gets it but she'll meet people who've travelled all over the shop as well as having fun, and she may well get a sense of adventure and move on elsewhere. And if she wants to, she'll be able to save money. Food costs sod all and she'll probably get her food and drink for free if she arranges with some bar and restaurant owners to recommend their places and she's seen eating/drinking there or takes/meets people there.
